The " Dark Act " passed

This was voted into law and signed by our illustrious leader El Obama this week...

Dear Reader,

Your right to know what you're feeding your family -- and even to avoid foods that could give you cancer -- could be going up in smoke.

And we're running out of time to do something about it.

For months now I've been warning you about the so-called Deny Americans the Right to Know (DARK) Act. It's a billion-dollar handout to biotech firms like Monsanto, and it would keep you from ever being able to tell which foods are genetically modified (GMO).

The DARK Act has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives, and last week took a major step toward becoming law.

That means we may have just days to stop this threat to our food supply -- and our health -- from ending up on President Obama's desk.

DARK motives

Only in Washington would 70 percent of politicians vote for something that 92 percent of Americans don't want.

But, believe it or not, that's exactly what happened in the U.S. Senate last week.

The Senate Agricultural Committee approved the DARK Act 14-6 and sent it to the full Senate for a vote.

And if the Senate passes the DARK Act, it could become law in just days.

I've told you plenty about the DARK Act before -- and it's one of the most despicable pieces of legislation we've ever had forced on us.

If it's signed into law, any chance that we'd ever see federal GMO labeling would be right out the window. Even worse, the bill would block states like Vermont from enacting their own GMO labeling laws.

I guess all that talk about "states' rights" takes a back seat once those GMO industry campaign checks start rolling in.

I don't know how the senators who support the DARK Act could look themselves in the mirror and claim to represent regular citizens like us. Surveys have shown that 92 percent of Americans want GMOs labeled -- and we all deserve the right to know whether the food we're serving to our families has been genetically modified.

But these senators aren't just ignoring the will of the people -- they're putting us all at risk.

As I've told you before, two years ago the World Health Organization declared that glyphosate (aka Roundup), the weed killer that's being sprayed all over GMOs, probably causes cancer.

But it looks like most of our elected officials don't care how much of this stuff you eat. In fact, by killing GMO labeling, they'll make sure you never know you're eating it at all.

Trust me, this bill is going to be moving fast. The Grocery Manufacturers Association, which has been lobbying hard for it, just put out a statement demanding that Congress pass the DARK Act "as quickly as possible."

They're even claiming that if the DARK Act doesn't pass and we end up with GMO labeling, it will increase the cost of food for every family in America around $1,050 a year.

That's the biggest hogwash I've ever heard.

You and I both know that food labels change all the time -- and it's not that big of a deal. This is nothing but a scare tactic, and a pretty pathetic one at that.

Let's face it -- average Americans aren't pushing for the DARK Act. It's being driven by biotech special interests like Monsanto who want to make a fortune by keeping you from knowing what you're eating.

If you're as outraged as I am, contact your Senators today and demand that they vote no on the DARK Act (it's real name is the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, which is a bad joke if I've ever heard one).

Because the only thing that scares these politicians more than angry campaign donors is angry voters. And it's time to let these senators know just how fed up we are.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
