  It is the only way!
*** It begins with faith in God, and eliminates faith in self. When we have no confidence in the flesh, then we discover we can have full confidence in him who is able to do anything through us. Do you see how any confidence at all in the flesh is over-confidence? ***

Read the Scripture: Philippians 3:3...
who put no confidence in the flesh. Phil 3:3b

The measure of true spirituality is in contrast to those who put confidence in some self-effort. Paul says, we put no confidence in the flesh. We are living in an age that continually strives to get us to put confidence in the flesh.

We are taught from childhood that the way to become proficient and competent and accomplish our aims and desires is to develop our self-confidence. This is what destroys human life. Self-confidence is not intended to be our strength, but rather it's to be our confidence in God.

We were intended to face life recognizing we are weak, ineffectual, and unable, that it might drive us back upon the one who is totally adequate, and can be our total strength. This is the way God intended us to live.

Therefore, the spirit of self-confidence is the most deadly lie that has ever been perpetrated upon the human race. Now there is self-confidence that is based on God in us, but when it comes from something in ourselves, something we have learned or achieved, it is deadly.

Paul says we have learned at last to put no confidence in the flesh. Even in religion there is strong emphasis on putting confidence in the flesh, or perhaps I should say, it is especially in religious areas we encounter this pressure.

It's no wonder that the spirit of the apostle flamed with indignation against this thing. Knowing the liberty that is in Christ Jesus, he puts the matter frankly. It begins with faith in God, and eliminates faith in self. When we have no confidence in the flesh, then we discover we can have full confidence in him who is able to do anything through us. Do you see how any confidence at all in the flesh is over-confidence?

We fear we are going to get over-confident.
We don't mind a little, but we don't want to become over-confident. But Paul says any confidence at all is over-confident. He has no confidence in himself to do anything.

None in his background, training, talents, accomplishments, no confidence in the time he spends in prayer, the number of chapters of scripture he reads, the number of verses he memorizes. No confidence in the power of his eloquence to persuade people or his devotion to move them.

Furthermore, he has no confidence in anyone else who trusts in these things. The only one in whom he has confidence is Jesus Christ.

We Thank you, Heavenly Father, that I need not look within myself to find the source of strength and confidence. Today I put my full confidence in Christ who is able to do anything through me.

Life Application: Jesus as man said he could do nothing of himself, but only in complete dependence upon the Father. Amen...

Are we emancipated from the unbearable burden of self-assertive control, to the liberty of Christ's Resurrection Life in and through us?

Amen!          It is the only way!

Only Lukewarm??

Eagle Feather December 21, 2010 · Lukewarm ???

By:  Eagle Feather

For many years now, the devil has entered the "church" world with doctrines of devils and man.
Itchy ears have locked on to these, causing them to be in BONDAGE. Tied up in false doctrines, the church has grown weak. It has no strength !

It would be SO GOOD if this could be dealt with RIGHT NOW ! But, I don't see it happening yet. "till we all come into the unity of the faith" is a prophesy that will come forth by much adversity !

When things get SO BAD ... that there is absolutely no where else to turn to except the TRUTH of God......then, the sons of God will manifest and things will get straight. Isn't it a shame that we will have to go through such tribulation ! STUBBORNNESS !!! is as the sin of WITCHCRAFT !!!

Oh, but, no one wants to hear the TRUTH, because then, it would mean they would have to fight against the flesh, and mind, to carry on the process of salvation...!

It would mean that they would have to dig into the Word of God and see " if these things be so ".
It would mean that they would have to lament before the Lord God in prayer !

It would mean that they would have to be satisfied with the menial things of this world.....seeking the Lord and all His righteousness FIRST !

Oh how I wish that I could give words of comfort to the people, but I can't !
Instead, here is the cry of the Lord :
Destruction comes ! Ye shall seek peace, but there shall be none !!!

You have worked for the desires of this world, and so enter into its re-compensation !

I will VOMIT you from Me...saith the Lord !!!

There is a big  difference between  being a "church goer" and a True Christian !

A Christian is a devout follower of the teachings of the Lord Jesus !

They live in OBEDIENCE ! They are NOT lukewarm ! So, the question stands : Are you lukewarm, and HINDERING,,, the work of the Lord ?

Or, are you continually seeking the Lord in obedience.....and thus spread the gospel of TRUTH...?!

Lord Jesus, have mercy on your children...

Helping you know - 1

The World is a Whirl of Worry!

Enough said! All of us have preconceived thoughts about what makes up our existence!
People do not always believe vain talk but they will come to believe and feel the truth!

Let's start with the present premise that many people seem to prefer having a paler shade of Hell! They prefer to live in a hollow shell of falsehood; rather than seek the truth that will set them free!
But what did God {The Creator} said and what have we made up?

1) What is Hell?
First we must understand that Hell was not originally made for humans - but Satan and his followers revolted and were cast out of Heaven - their end was the confinement of Hell... It is a place of conscience suffering or punishment. It has become a place where those who exit this life such as unbelievers or those who did not ever know the Lord God! Most want a paler shade of Hell...
- The worse problem is that many in the Christian Church are Luke-warm and Loving it!
BTW: There is an end to Hell - read - Revelation 20:13

2) Who is our neighbor?
With the Second Commandment being to " Love your Neighbor " is not time to see those around you with a purpose! Then there are people who are placed upon our pathway of life - the question becomes how do we interface with them?

3) What is our view of God?
Most of the New Testament writers held a much Larger view of God than we do today! A view that takes Him - God at His Word! They did not try to improvise or make Him fit into our moral standards and other human sentimentality. It was a view of God that reveals what He has said; even when it did not make perfect sense to us or you!
It is time that we see the pure love of God in action and come to live the real purpose of His Creation!

4) How should we act?
First Seek God in your life! None of us can exist as we were created to; unless there is a connection with our Heavenly Father - which is our beginning! We must come to know Him and to learn to use His Eternal love to build a better relationship.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
-  But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
{Faith must be coupled with total Belief}

Matthew 17:14-21 - When they (Jesus and the apostles Peter, James and John) returned to the crowds again (after the Transfiguration) a man came and knelt in front of Jesus. "Lord, do have pity on my son," he said, "for he is a lunatic and is in a terrible state. He is always falling into the fire or into the water. I did bring him to your disciples but they couldn't cure him."
"You really are an unbelieving and difficult people," Jesus returned. "How long must I be with you, and how long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!"
Then Jesus reprimanded the evil spirit and it went out of the boy, who was cured from that moment.
Afterwards the disciples approached Jesus privately and asked, "Why weren't we able to get rid of it?"
"Because you have so little faith," replied Jesus. "I assure you that if you have as much faith as a grain of mustard-seed you can say to this hill, 'Up you get and move over there!' and it will move - you will find nothing is impossible."

5)  In The Parable of the Good Samaritan  Luke 10:27  Love the Lord God!
…26 And He said to him, "What is written in the Law?   How does it read to you?"
27 And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
28 And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE."…

First you must come to know that the Lord God is Love!
It is the Eternal Love of Almighty God which shines in Eternity throughout His creation!
Once we come to understand the strength and depth of this Agape Love;  then we can start to become aware some what, and Who God IS!!

Such love links the entire university together!
" There is no fear in love; but perfect love cast out all fears; because fear has torment. He that does not fear is made perfect in Love." 1 John 4:18

Under the New Testament or Covenant - we are not supposed to be serving God out of fear of punishment. It is the Love of God that will help direct us to act in the Proper and Blessed manner!
Yet most of the people in the world do not seem to understand this holy principle!
Let us come to understand that Agape Love is the common thread which holds all that is together!
*** Most of the world's religions and beliefs are falsely attempting to get people to work or perform their way to Heaven - but that will never please Almighty God who is love - only total belief and absolute Faith will suffice!

Civil war going on in America today

There is a civil war going on in America today, but it is not political. Sure, the courtrooms and congressional halls are the battlegrounds, but the war itself is between light and dark—the truth of the Gospel and the lies of the devil.

The Declaration of Dependence upon God and His Holy Bible. Let society know that we believe in and will take a stand on the Word of God.

There is no bondage like religious bondage. A simple pagan background is easy to overcome in comparison to a heritage of legalistic religion. Paul ought to know; he was the Pharisee of the Pharisees. (Living Commentary Note 2 at Romans 14:1)

SPEAKING IN TONGUES - Disciple 16 of 48

LEVEL 1
LESSON 16

THE BENEFITS OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES
By Andrew Wommack

One of the things that happened when the baptism of the Holy Spirit first came was that
all the people who were there spoke in tongues.
Acts 2:4 says that on the Day of Pentecost, they were filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Consistently all the way through the book of Acts, there was a manifestation of God’s presence
when the people received the Holy Spirit.

Of course, there is much more to the Holy Spirit than speaking in tongues, but it is one of the important manifestations.

First Corinthians 14:13-14 says, “Wherefore let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he might interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.” When you pray in tongues, your spirit prays. Once you speak in tongues, pray that you interpret so your understanding will become fruitful.

I can give my own personal testimony that when I received the baptism of the Holy
Ghost and started speaking in tongues, it changed my life dramatically. I believe when I got
born again, Christ came to live inside of me and He deposited everything there, but when the
Holy Spirit came upon me, it started to manifest to me and other people. There are a couple of
things that happened.

The first year I prayed in tongues, my mind told me it was crazy, that all
I was doing was wasting time. It took faith for me to pray in tongues, which is the reason
Jude 20 says you build yourself up in your most holy faith. It takes you out of natural thinking and
reasoning and puts you into a supernatural realm of faith.

Another thing I experienced was that when I prayed in tongues, people I hadn’t thought
of for years would come to my remembrance. I’d start praying for them, and within a day or two,
they would contact me and I’d find that something miraculous had happened. This happened
so many times that I finally began to put these things together and realized that when I was
praying in tongues, I was praying with wisdom that went beyond my mental ability. My spirit
that knew all things and had the mind of Christ was praying for people in ways that I could
never do with my own physical understanding.

One day I was praying in tongues—as I said, it took faith for me to pray in tongues—and
I was battling some thoughts like, You could be speaking in English and doing some good instead
of speaking this gibberish. I had to deal with these thoughts and put them down, and I just kept
praying.  A guy I hadn’t seen for four years knocked on my door. He came in, didn’t say hello

or anything, sat down, and began to cry and pour out his heart because he was having a lot of
problems. I sat there thinking, Boy, I should have been praying in English. My next thought was,
How would I have known to pray for him when I hadn’t seen him in four years?

Finally, it just dawned on me that I had been praying, and God had been preparing me. I had been interceding for him in a way that I couldn’t have done if I were praying with my understanding. Suddenly, a revelation began to come to me and I told him, “I can tell you what your problem is.” I finished his story for him and gave him his answer.

You have to understand that this was back when I was in a denominational church. He didn’t know what had happened to me and I wasn’t sure. It scared us both. But it was the power of God in manifestation, and He used it supernaturally.

That is what this means: When you pray in tongues, it’s your spirit praying. Your spirit has been born again, has the mind of Christ, and knows exactly what to do. It has an unction (anointing) from God so that you know all things, and there is no limitation in your spirit. If you could walk in the power and revelation of your spirit, it would transform your physical life. One way of doing that, though not the only way, is to just start speaking in tongues. Recognize and believe that when you do, you’re building yourself up in your most holy faith, that your spirit is praying the hidden wisdom of God, and the perfect revelation of God is coming.

Then, according to
1 Corinthians 14:13, pray that you can interpret. That doesn’t mean you have to stop praying in tongues and pray in English to interpret; it just means your understanding becomes fruitful.

If you give a message in tongues in a church service, you do have to stop and interpret
in English or language of the congregation!  When you’re praying by yourself, what I do is pray in tongues and trust that God is giving me revelation. Sometimes my attitude just changes. I don’t have a specific word, but suddenly I see things clearly and get a different perspective. It may take a week before I get the full revelation, but I believe the time spent praying in tongues and believing I interpret is a part of it.

Speaking in tongues is important for many reasons, certainly more than to prove you’ve
received the Holy Spirit. It should be a part of everyday life. It is a way to communicate directly
from your heart to the Father, bypassing your brain with its doubts and fears. It builds you up
in your most holy faith and releases the hidden wisdom of God. I just pray that all of you will
be able to flow in this, release your faith, and receive the full benefit of speaking in tongues.

What is the difference between the ISIS and ISIL ?

 Frank Alexander
 · Kingman, AZ ·

Ever wonder why Obama and all his cronies say ISIL and not ISIS like everyone else?

Here is the difference between the terms ISIS and ISIL.

ISIS stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Iraq is to the east of Jordan (shaped like a hatchet) and Syria is to the north.

ISIL stands for Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Iraq is still to the east of Jordan, and “the Levant” is a term that comes from “the rising (of the sun, i.e., to the east)” and is basically the land along the Mediterranean; that includes Lebanon, Israel, and those countries along there.

By saying ISIL, you “negate” Israel as its own country and lump it in with the rest of the countries along the Mediterranean and Israel sort of disappears; loses its sovereignty and becomes just a part of “the Levant ” which means it is therefore part of ISIL. What makes up the near exact center of the Muslim Levant?

Israel.

ISIL stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant.
Now, to us Westerners we don't really make much of a distinction but how does a Muslim living in the Middle East view it?
The geographical term LEVANT refers to a multi-nation region in the Middle East.
It’s a land bridge between Turkey to the north and Egypt to the south.

If you look on a map, however, in the near exact middle of the nations that comprise the Levant, you Israel.

When Obama refers over and over to the Islamic State as ISIL, he is sending a message to Muslims all over the Middle East, that he personally does not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation, but as territory belonging to the Islamic State.

This is why Obama says that he has no plan, no goal, and no stated aim for dealing with ISIS.
But he does have a plan.

Obama’s plan is to drag his feet for as long as he can, doing only the bare minimum that Congress forces him to do. His plan is to buy ISIL as much time as possible to make as many gains as they can. And it’s working. The Islamic State has garnered millions of dollars, a vast cache of weapons, and in their latest foray have captured Syrian fighter jets and now 12 commercial passenger planes.

With each passing day that Obama fulfills his stated aim of doing nothing, the Islamic State grows by leaps and bounds. The ultimate goal, of course, has not changed and will never change.

The ultimate goal is the destruction of Israel which is why Obama chooses his words so carefully.

** Any Jew who voted for Obama is like a chicken who would have voted for Col. Sanders.
This equally applies to Hillary Clinton.

Discipleship - 15 of 48

LESSON 15
HOW TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
By Don Krow

We’re going to talk today about how to receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:1 says,
“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a Centurion of the army unit called the Italian band. ” This was a military rank, a captain over a 100 soldiers. Verse 2 continues, “A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.”

He was righteous, did things that were right, feared God, gave much money to people
in need, and the Bible says he prayed to God always. But we are going to find out, and it will be
amazing, that even though he did things right, even though he feared God, and had a prayer
life, he didn’t have a personal relationship with God though Jesus Christ.

It says in verses 3-6,   “He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day [about
three o’clock in the afternoon] an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord?
And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms [giving] are come up for a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do”  (brackets mine).

This man, although he was God-fearing, righteous as far as doing things that
were right, and had a prayer life before God, was sent an angel who told him to send for
Simon Peter who would tell him what he must do.

We see in Acts 10:43 exactly what Peter was instructed to tell him:
“To give him all the prophets witness, that through his name [through the name of the Lord Jesus] whosoever believes in him shall receive remission of sins” (brackets mine). Isn’t this amazing?

This man who had all these things to his credit didn’t have a personal relationship with God through the person of Jesus Christ. God said,
“The things you’re doing are great, they’re wonderful, and they are a memorial before me,
but I tell you what I’m going to do. I’ve sent an angel down to tell you to send for a man
named Peter, and he will tell you what you must do.”

In Acts 10:43, when Peter went to Cornelius’ house, he said, “Whosoever believes in him [the Lord Jesus Christ] shall receive the remission of sins” (brackets mine).

Now look what happened here. “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell
on all them which heard the word”
(Acts 10:44).

Cornelius was receiving as he heard of faith in Christ, and he put his faith in Christ for the remission of his sins. As soon as he did, the Holy Spirit fell upon him and all those that were in that house.
It says in verse 45,

“And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
” How did they know that? “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God”
(verse 46).

Every time the Holy Spirit falls on an individual in the New Testament, a gift of the Holy
Spirit manifests and gives evidence that they have received the infilling of the Spirit. In the New
Testament, they usually spoke in tongues or prophesied.

I got down on my knees one evening in a field in Dallas, Texas, and said, “God, I don’t
know about all this speaking in tongues and the baptism in the Holy Spirit that people are talking
about, but if there’s a way I can praise you, a way I can magnify you, a way I can go beyond my
human English language, I want it. I started worshiping God, and as I did, the Holy Spirit gave
me a language, an utterance that I hadn’t known or learned.

The Bible says in Acts 2:4,
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Who did the speaking?

They did. Who gave the utterance?

 The Holy Spirit.

Luke 11:13 says, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how
much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

All you have to do right now is ask, believe that you receive, yield yourself to God, begin to worship the Lord, and He will give you an utterance to worship and praise Him in a language you have never learned.

1. Describe some of the terms that the Bible uses for salvation.

2. Read Acts 11:15.
How does this verse describe the experience of the baptism with the Holy Spirit?

ACTS 11:15 –
And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

3. Jesus’ disciples received the Holy Spirit (John 20:22),
but a few days later were actually baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4).

Look at and compare these facts (John 20:22 and Acts 2:1-4).

JOHN 20:22 – And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them,
Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

ACTS 2:1-4 – And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing
mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared
unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were
all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave
them utterance.

4. Read Acts 1:8.
What is the purpose of the baptism with the Holy Spirit?

ACTS 1:8 – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

5. Read Acts 2:38-39

ACTS 2:38-39 –  [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. [39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
and 1 Corinthians 1:7 .

Is the baptism with the Holy Spirit for us today?

1 CORINTHIANS 1:7 – So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6. Read Luke 11:13.
If you have not received the baptism with the Holy Spirit, what should you now do?

LUKE 11:13 –  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

7. Read Acts 2:4.
Will you ask, receive, speak, and worship God in the prayer language that God gives you?

ACTS 2:4 –
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

===================================

1. Describe some of the terms that the Bible uses for salvation:

- Being born again (John 3:3),

JOHN 3:3 – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

- Conversion (Acts 3:19),

ACTS 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted
out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

- Believing and being baptized

(Mark 16:16),

MARK 16:16 –
He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.

- Having been forgiven (Col. 2:13),

COLOSSIANS 2:13 – And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.

- Having received the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9),

ROMANS 8:9 – But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit
of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

- And eternal life (Matt. 25:46)

MATTHEW 25:46 – And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

2. Read Acts 11:15.

How does this verse describe the experience of the baptism with the Holy Spirit?
- As the Holy Spirit falling on someone

3. Jesus’ disciples received the Holy Spirit (John 20:22), but a few days later were actually
baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4).

Look at and compare these facts (John 20:22 and Acts 2:1-4).

In John 20:22, the disciples received the Holy Spirit.

JOHN 20:22 – And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them,
Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

In Acts 2:1-4, the very same disciples were then filled with the Holy Spirit
(which is an inward and outward immersion)

ACTS 2:1-4 – And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

4. Read Acts 1:8. What is the purpose of the baptism with the Holy Spirit?
To empower for service (or witness)

ACTS 1:8 – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

5. Read Acts 2:38-39 and 1 Corinthians 1:7. Is the baptism with the Holy Spirit for us today?
Yes. The gifts of the Holy Spirit will cease at the second coming of Christ, but not until then

6. Read Luke 11:13.
If you have not received the baptism with the Holy Spirit, what should you now do?
Ask for it

7. Read Acts 2:4.
Will you ask, receive, speak and worship God in the prayer language that God gives you?
Yes, I will speak, but the Holy Spirit will give me the utterance (the language)

SCIENCE BEHIND EXERCISE

Interesting....from Dr. Dean Ornish's website

SCIENCE BEHIND EXERCISE's BENEFITS TO OUR FAT AND MUSCLES

Very few people would question the dynamic benefits of exercise to improve health and wellness, but very few people know about the science behind what causes these beneficial health changes to our fat and muscles.

Exercise will both increase our calorie burn and our respiration rate, so it’s the best route to burning away the pounds away!

A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle – one pound. The difference between the two, however, is that one pound of muscle takes up much less room than one-pound of fat. So if you gain an extra ten pounds of fat, it will increase your stomach size a bit. Ten pounds of muscle, gained through strength training, however, would certainly firm up your muscles, but not show a significant size increase.

The Role of Fat Cells

Our bodies have a certain number of fat cells. These are set for us at several points during our youth and will not change as we age. Fat cells will, however, increase or decrease in size depending on our nutrition and activity. It’s a matter of calorie balance. Fat cells will stay the same size if the calories we consume equal the calories we utilize each day. If you consume too many excess calories the size of your fat cells will increase. If you burn extra calories through exercise, the size of the fat cells will decrease.

The puzzling question is what happens to the fat – where does it go?

The answer lies in our respiration. Yes, our breath and breathing is responsible for fat elimination, according to a 2014 study published in the British Medical Journal. Nearly 84% of fat molecules are exhaled as carbon dioxide. Another 16 percent leave the body through water, including sweat, tears, urine, and other liquids. Exercise will both increase our calorie burn and our respiration rate, so it s the best route to burning away the pounds away!
Exercises for Burning Fat

The primary types of exercise that burn calories and fat are cardiovascular activities: Walking, cycling, swimming, and jogging. This is because as you do these exercises, you breathe a lot and therefore exhale a lot of fat cells.

See our post Breathing for Better Exercise to better understand how to maximize the release of fat cells.

What Makes Your Muscles Grow

Skeletal Muscle on the other hand is made up of fibers. Without stimulation those fibers tend to stay the same. If you stimulate, or as I like to say “challenge” the muscle, the fibers will grow, become more powerful, and increase in size. For the muscle fibers to grow and improve in strength they actually tear in a microscopic way when you train them. These tears are part of what causes muscle soreness after exercise.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
As your body heals these tears, your muscle fibers become stronger. The more frequently you repeat this process, the more your muscles will improve in strength and size. You will typically begin to notice this type of soreness within 12-24 hours of exercise and it will last another day or two. If this soreness lasts longer than that, you might consider decreasing the intensity of your exercise. Of course there are other factors that influence our gains in strength and size such as nutrition, genetics, and the types of training we use.

For more information on DOMS, I recommend this article from The American College Of Sports Medicine

Get ready folks

Get ready folks...

Matthew 27:52 "And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,"
This is an amazing event that only Matthew records.

This earthquake apparently rolled the stones away from many of the graves in the vicinity of Jerusalem, and some of the saints buried there arose from the dead. Even at the death of Jesus, such power was released that death lost its grip on its captives.

It is uncertain whether these resurrected saints died again or were caught up to God. If they were resurrected at Christ's death, then they would have had to die again, just as Lazarus or Jairus' daughter or the widow's son at Nain or anyone else that Jesus raised from the dead during His ministry.

This is because Jesus was, "the first fruits of them that slept" (Acts 26:23; 1 Cor. 15:20).
Jesus was not the first person physically raised from the dead, but He was the first person begotten from the dead to never die again.

If these people were not actually resurrected until after Jesus' resurrection, when Matthew states they came out of their graves, then they could have been resurrected with their glorified bodies to never die again.

At any rate, these saints went into Jerusalem after Jesus was resurrected and they appeared to many people. We can only guess what effect this must have had on the people.
The resurrection of Jesus puts Christianity in a class all by itself.

Many people have come and gone professing some revelation from God or new way of approaching God. But only Jesus has conquered death.
This makes Him unique and elevates Him above the level of any other man who has ever walked on the earth. The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate proof of the accuracy of His doctrine.

==============================

** note : in the 1990's Abraham's burial cave in northern Israel was found with all the places where the bodies had lain empty. - How and why many ask?
- the answer is that they arose with Christ!

All the pieces are coming together folks.... Get ready!

Matt 5:18
Jesus Fulfills the Law

17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
18 "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
19 "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.…

Thank God for inspiring me to choose a pro-life hospital

*** God has the power to take us from the depths of darkness, even the darkness of death, and bring us to the light, and for that, I praise Him! ***

Mom had DIED Giving Birth, Until PRAYER Saved Her!
God had this mother and child in His hands the whole time.

Melanie's pregnancy was normal so there was no reason for her to think her delivery would be like this! On July 28, 2010 her life would change forever. And praise God, His hands and angels were on the scene. Read how the love and support and prayers from her husband, alongside God's grace and love delivered both mom and baby home safely.

Read Melanie and Doug's story about bringing little Gabriella into this world and saving mom's life. It's truly a God moment!!

Per Melanie: On July 28, 2010, I delivered my child in the maternity ward of one hospital, only to wake up days later in the ICU of another hospital across town, not knowing how I had even gotten there. Shocked, I sat and listened as my family told what had taken place during the past three days. I tried to recall them. But I had no memory. I drew a blank.

The following is a story handed down to me from my husband and many others about my untimely death and miraculous survival.

Code Blue

While I was in the hospital preparing to deliver my baby girl after 39 long weeks, I signaled to the nurse that something was wrong. I was light-headed and felt somewhat nauseous. I felt as though I was going to pass out. The nurse attempted to reposition me and try to determine the cause of my light-headedness. There was no indication from my vitals that something was amiss.

Then I slumped to my side, apparently having what seemed like a mild seizure. My husband, who was standing at the end of the bed, witnessed my heart rate and blood pressure flash zero on my monitors. Our unborn child’s heart rate began to plummet precipitously. My skin had turned a deep blue. I was not breathing and had no heart rate. I had suffered cardiac arrest. I was clinically dead, and my baby was still inside of my body.

Doctors signaled code blow Code Blue and a team of staff whisked me to the operating room (OR). My husband later told me that he prayed in these words:

“God, I know that this is more than I can handle, which means you have a plan and a purpose in this, and I trust you; but please, if it is your will, allow me to hold my wife again.” He said he has never felt more helpless and afraid in all his life.

By now family and friends had begun to congregate and they all grabbed hands and began to pray. Soon after they began to text, email, Tweet, and post statuses on Facebook, asking people to pray for me. The domino effect began to happen. By the end of that day, I was the number one Googled person in Phoenix and one of the top 100 people Twittered about, as the prayer requests went viral.

In the OR, doctors worked feverishly to save both me and my unborn child. Miraculously, we both survived this initial insult.

After our baby was delivered via C-section, my husband went to see our daughter in the nursery, not knowing if I was dead or alive. As he wiped the tears from his face, the nurses asked him the baby’s name. “Gabriella,” he replied, the “heroine of God.”

A nurse told my husband that after repeatedly using the defibrillator and beginning CPR they had been able to get a faint heartbeat. I had been without oxygen or a pulse for around 10 minutes. They spent over an hour and a half trying to resuscitate me.

The head of the ICU told those gathered that I had likely experienced an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE), which is usually fatal. The doctors had stabilized me but did not believe I would survive and encouraged my family to say their 'goodbyes.'

My husband came to my bedside. He took hold of my hand and said: “I love you; I will always love you. Brady and Gabriella are beautiful and love you. If you have any fight left, then fight. Despite my hopes, promise me that you will follow your guardian angel wherever he leads you. Where he leads you will be where God needs you.”

From there things went from extremely bad to worse. I received two blood transfusions and was going into DIC, a condition of erratic blood clotting. While performing the emergency C-section doctors had accidentally cut an artery, so they had to perform another emergency surgery to stop the bleeding.

Miraculously, I survived this surgery as well, but because the doctors found five liters of blood in my abdomen, they had to pack down my belly (simply put, they stuffed my belly full of towels to compress the bleeding). As a result, they could not close my abdomen, so I was still open with an increased risk for infection for over 12 more hours.

Because of the heart failure, my “ejection fraction” was only 5% (normal is between 55% and 65%). Basically my heart was barely pumping. My lungs had failed and a respirator was breathing for me at 100%. I was still unconscious and doctors thought that even if I did survive I would be neurologically impaired. I was transferred to another hospital an hour away in extreme critical condition. This hospital had an ECMO machine, which works for the heart and lungs.

Our friend, who is also the priest that witnessed our vows at our wedding, was with my husband at the second hospital. He said to Doug, “Wow, when you got married, this is what you said ‘yes’ to. For better or for worse; in sickness and in health.”

The doctors at the new hospital wanted to perform another surgery to remove the packing from my open abdomen and stitch me up. But just before doing this, they withheld some of the sedation to more accurately assess my neurological state.

As Doug entered my room with my sister, he saw that my eyes were open and looking around. “Hey babe,” he said, without hesitation. I turned and he looked at me and my eyes began to well up with tears. It was clear to him that I was neither brain-dead nor impaired.

Worried that I may not make it through the operation, they showed me a photo of Gabriella. I began to cry. Momma bear must have come out, because I began to twist and turn to get out of my bed. They sedated me once more and wheeled me off to surgery. For the first time my family felt some optimism, even though the odds of my surviving the surgery were slim.

However, the surgery was successful, and from that point a miraculous recovery began to unfold. Within the next 24 hours, I was weaned off of all medications, except for pain medication. I was breathing on my own.

Doug entered my room and sat next to me. He tells me that I touched his face and said, “Hey babe, how are you?” He laughed and kissed my hand and cried.

He said he cried for joy and thanked God for this grace. I Praise Him!

Although I have no memory of this incredible event in my life, I am grateful to be alive and to hold my husband and children in my arms daily. I am thankful for every Facebook post, Tweet, and articles written and posted, who reached out and asked others to pray for me, a stranger.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the multitude of prayers that covered me throughout this traumatic event. I am happy to say, the prayers worked! Thanks to the hands of doctors, nurses, many blood donors, and an ever-merciful God, Gabriella and I are alive and well and I have made a full recovery.

It has been almost four years, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank the Lord for allowing me to survive something very few live to talk about.

I thank the Lord for inspiring me to choose a pro-life hospital. I thank God for allowing Doug, Brady, Gabriella, and me to be a family again and for allowing me another opportunity to speak of God’s infinite grace, mercy, and love for all of us.

God has the power to take us from the depths of darkness, even the darkness of death, and bring us to the light, and for that, I praise Him!

THE POWER OF A SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE - 14 of 48

LEVEL 1 LESSON 14
THE POWER OF A SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE
By Don Krow

Mark 16:15-16 is known as the Great Commission. Jesus said to His disciples,
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.”

In Acts 8, verse 5 and 12, we see how this commission was worked out through the preaching of Philip in Samaria. “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them…But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.”

The question is, did these people of Samaria become Christians according to Mark
16:15-16?
Yes, they did. Philip went to the city of Samaria, preached Jesus Christ, and through
faith in Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. According to the Great Commission,
we could say these people were saved, but had they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
The Bible speaks about John baptizing in water, but only Jesus Christ could baptize with
the Holy Spirit. According to the Scripture, people believed, were saved, and water baptized,
but they had never received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:14-17 says, “Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.”

We can see from the scriptures that just because a person has believed, been baptized,
and saved doesn’t mean they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has come into their lives — in John 20:22 we see that the Holy Spirit regenerated the disciples—but it was on the Day of Pentecost that they were baptized with the Holy Spirit and empowered by God.

There is a difference between the quickening of the Holy Spirit in salvation and the baptism of
the Holy Spirit when He comes upon an individual. There is an immersion in the Holy Spirit
that comes upon individuals and empowers them. Even though a person has been saved, it
doesn’t mean they have been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 19:1-2 it states, “And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul
having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said
unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?
And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.” Paul said, “Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?” They said, “We don’t know anything about a Holy Spirit.” Paul said, “If you weren’t baptized with the Holy Spirit when you believed, what were you baptized with?” They said, “We were baptized with John’s baptism.” I believe Paul explained more perfectly about Jesus being the Christ, and these believers then identified with Jesus through water baptism.

In verses 6-7 it says, “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came upon them; and they spake with tongues and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.”

Even though these people were disciples who believed in the Messiah who was to come,
they hadn’t been baptized with the Holy Spirit. A person can be born again and water baptized
without having been baptized in the Holy Spirit. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate and
distinct experience from conversion.

Although I can baptize a person in water, I can’t baptize them in the Holy Spirit; only
Jesus can do that. If you have never asked Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Spirit, why don’t
you ask Him now?

Luke 11:13 says, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
Why don’t you ask Him today?

1. Read Mark 16:16.
MARK 16:16 – He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes
not shall be damned.

Now read Acts 8:5 and 12. Did the people described in Acts 8:12 become Christians?

ACTS 8:5 – Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

ACTS 8:12 – But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom
of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

2. Read Acts 8:14-16. Had these people received the
baptism with the Holy Spirit?

ACTS 8:14-16 – Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria
had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
[15] Who, when they were come down, prayed for
them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
[16] (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

3. Read Acts 19:1-5. Are these people believers?

ACTS 19:1-5 –
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?
And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
[3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
[4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that  they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
[5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

4. Read Acts 19:6-7. Had they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

ACTS 19:6-7 – And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost
came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
[7] And all the men were about twelve.

5. Read Luke 11:13. What does Luke 11:13 say we need
to do to receive the Holy Spirit?

LUKE 11:13 – If ye then, being evil, know how to give good
gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly
Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

6. Read 1 Corinthians 14:2. When a person speaks in
tongues, what are they doing?

 1 CORINTHIANS 14:2 –
For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; how be it in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

7. Read 1 Corinthians 14:14. When a person speaks in
tongues, what are they doing?

 1 CORINTHIANS 14:14 –
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

8. Read 1 Corinthians 14:16-17. When a person speaks
in tongues, what are they doing?

1 CORINTHIANS 14:16-17 –
Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupy the room of the unlearned say Amen at  thy giving of thanks, seeing he does not understand what thou sayest?
[17] For thou verily give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

9. Read Acts 2:4. When someone speaks in tongues,
is the Holy Spirit speaking or the personal individual speaking?

10. Read Acts 2:4. Who is giving utterance to the person?

ACTS 2:4 – And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,
and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave
them utterance.

=======================================

1. Read Mark 16:16. Now read Acts 8:5, 12. Did the people described in Acts 8:12
become Christians?
Yes

2. Read Acts 8:14-16. Had these people received the baptism with the Holy Spirit?
No

3. Read Acts 19:1-5. Are these people believers?
Yes

4. Read Acts 19:6-7. Had they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
No
NOTE: {This shows this experience to be distinct from salvation.}

5. Read Luke 11:13. What does Luke 11:13 say we need to do to receive the Holy Spirit?
Ask

6. Read 1 Corinthians 14:2. When a person speaks in tongues, what are they doing?
Speaking to God and speaking mysteries

7. Read 1 Corinthians 14:14. When a person speaks in tongues, what are they doing?

9. Read Acts 2:4. When someone speaks in tongues, is the Holy Spirit speaking or the
personal individual speaking?
The person is speaking

10. Read Acts 2:4. Who is giving utterance to the person?
The Holy Spirit

The Truth Is Coming Back
By: Diane Sori and Craig Andresen / RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS

Over the past few days, we have been asked, “what happened to CPR?” Many of our readers and listeners have wanted to know why we weren’t on the air and why the CPR station wasn’t active.

It’s time to provide some answers.

There are two old adages that come to mind... first...all good things must come to an end, and regrettably that is the case with cprworldwidemedia.com. Due to the serious nature of the network’s CEO’s health concerns, he is no longer, at least at this time, able to keep the station up, running, and active.

Several of us, in his absence, did all we could to keep CPR a viable entity but at the end of the day, we simply lacked the proper resources or the necessary protocols to continue. Sadly, last week, we were left with no choice but to allow the lights to be turned off, the doors to be locked, and the station to go dark.

RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS had been airing on CPR since February of 2014 with our twice weekly live shows and numerous recasts, and over that time span we had grown a sizable audience of those wishing to hear the 'unfiltered truth.'

We can’t thank you enough for your support and dedication throughout the RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS run on CPR and we know we speak for all involved, from the other talk show hosts to our music DJ’s, when we say that you, the listeners, have meant the world to us.

Yes, CPR had its detractors, petty small-minded people consumed with hate and jealousy whose primary concern was trying to disrupt the day to day business of operating a radio network but compared to the Obama regime, assorted jihadis threatening us with fatwas, and the ilk of the Jordanian King’s efforts to silence not only RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS but CPR as a whole, those individual detractors were mere pests to be shooed away like gnats at a picnic.

The next and most obvious question would be...will CPR ever return and to be perfectly honest we simply do not know. The first order of business for our former CEO is to get his health back on track, and unfortunately, that’s going to be a long road to travel. Our CEO's wish is to get well, come back, and restart CPR at some point and we wish him all the best in those respects, but right now time is of the essence as we have so very many dire issues to face as a nation, threats from evil ideologies, an election to win with the primary season now less than two months away, and economic turmoil at home.

Having CPR’s doors shuttered and the station dark, at least for now, is a blow in that it takes away an avenue of truth from us to the general public.

This is where the second old adage comes into play...with every ending there is a new beginning and so it will be for RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS and several of the most dedicated people we have had the honor to be associated with over the past couple of years.

Diane and Craig, the RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS, along with Darren Lee, Bobby Brown, Scott Legler and Dennis Vespi, have decided to take our skill set and launch a whole new online radio network, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

All of us involved bring unique skills to the table. Diane Sori brings a women’s perspective, her investigative talents, and her insightful op-ed style to bear; while Darren Lee adds his business acumen and an international flair from 'down under' to the mix. Dennis Vespi is a consummate interviewer whose featured music/talk program has become a fan favorite. Bobby Brown’s talents can be found in two arenas...he’s an IT specialist, and in the world of internet radio his abilities are most coveted, and he also works the DJ booth bringing great music and entertainment with him on this new journey. Scott Legler, a businessman with a keen sense of priority, is also a fantastic DJ doing shows and live mixes that are always a party. And then there’s Craig Andresen...our resident 'King of Snark'...whose hard hitting articles and commentary are intermixed with just the right taste of biting sarcasm to drive even the most absurd point home. Craig also has a 12-year stint in 'terrestrial' radio under his belt which serves this new venture well.

Together, we are starting anew, from where CPR left off with a new internet radio network... American Patriots Broadcasting Network...and we are very excited.

There is much to do and we have set ourselves a target date of January 2, 2016 to launch our network. The website is being built, the servers are in hand, we are lining up a schedule that will include 24/7/365 News, Conservative Talk, and Music Shows, with some of your old favorites now getting on board. We will also have a new FB group up and running soon.

A few notes of importance...first...American Patriots Broadcasting Network is NOT blogtalk radio...we are a full-on 24/7/365 internet network, fully licensed, and ready to deliver the highest quality listening experience to our audience. Second...our website, currently under construction, will be second to none with news, articles, our program schedule and player, all easily navigational and fully operational. Third...our sponsors are already lined up and ready to roll out with us in just a couple of weeks. And lastly...we will be endeavoring to bring new talk and live music shows on board very soon.

While we wish nothing but the best and a return to good health to our former CEO, we know that our mission simply cannot wait, cannot be delayed as the truth must be presented in every and any forum available to us which is why we have joined forces with like-minded patriots from around the world to launch the American Patriots Broadcasting Network and we hope that you, our friends, fellow patriots, listening audience, and seekers of the truth will join us...on our new website, on our new FB group, and on-the-air starting with RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS... Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11am to 1pm EST.

Müller's reasons

Lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and
He shall direct thy paths.' Prov. iii. 5, 6.
By the grace of God I do acknowledge the Lord in my ways, and in this thing in particular; I have therefore the comfortable assurance that He will direct my paths concerning this part of my
service, as to whether I shall be occupied in it or not.

Further: 'The integrity of the upright shall preserve them; but the perverseness of fools shall destroy
them.' Prov. xi. 3. By the grace of God I am upright in this business. My honest
purpose is to get glory to God. Therefore I expect to be guided aright.

Further: 'Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established.' Prov.
xvi. 3. I do commit my works unto the Lord, and therefore expect that my
thoughts will be established.--My heart is more and more coming to a calm,
quiet, and settled assurance, that the Lord will condescend to use me yet
further in the Orphan Work. Here, Lord, is Thy servant!"

Mr. Müller wrote down eight reasons against and eight reasons for
establishing another Orphan-House for Seven Hundred Orphans.

The following is his last reason for so doing:
"I am peaceful and happy, spiritually, in the prospect of enlarging the work as
on former occasions when I had to do so. This weighs particularly with me as
a reason for going forward. After all the calm, quiet, prayerful consideration of
the subject for about eight weeks, I am peaceful and happy, spiritually, in the
purpose of enlarging the field. This, after all the heart searching which I have
had, and the daily prayer to be kept from delusion and mistake in this thing,
and the betaking myself to the Word of God, would not be the case, I judge,
had not the Lord purposed to condescend to use me more than ever in this
service.
"I, therefore, on the ground of the objections answered, and these eight
reasons FOR enlarging the work, come to the conclusion that it is the will of
the blessed God, that His poor and most unworthy servant should yet more
extensively serve Him in this work, which he is quite willing to do."

"May 24.-- From the time that I began to write down the exercises of my mind
on Dec. 5th, 1850, till this day, ninety-two more Orphans have been applied
for, and seventy-eight were already waiting for admission before. But this
number increases rapidly as the work becomes more and more known.
"On the ground of what has been recorded above, I purpose to go forward in
this service, and to seek to build, to the praise and honour of the living God,
another Orphan-House, large enough to accommodate seven hundred
Orphans."

Here the length, and breath of Christianity!

To Be A True Christian Will Cost You

J.C. Ryle was a bishop of Liverpool. He has many amazing writing that one would enjoy. He was a prolific writer on many levels and leader in the church. One of my favorite quotes is

quote pulled from http://www.graceonlinelibrary.org/christian-life/the-cost-of-being-a-true-christian-by-j-c-ryle/ church, is cheap and easy work. But to hear Christ’s voice, follow Christ, believe in Christ, and confess Christ, requires much self-denial. It will cost us our sins, our self-righteousness, our ease, and our worldliness. All must be given up. We must fight an enemy who comes against us with thousands of followers. We must build a tower in troubled times. Our Lord Jesus Christ would have us thoroughly understand this. He bids us “count the cost.” – J.C. Ryle

=====================================

The reader of this volume will probably observe that some of the thoughts
and ideas are occasionally repeated. They will kindly remember that this
arises from the sermons which comprise it having been delivered at different
places, and at long intervals. I have thought it best and wisest, for many
reasons, to reprint them without alteration.

   ========================

If any one asks me what my prophetical opinions are, I am quite ready
to give him an answer. Cautious and doubtful as I feel on some points, there
are certain great principles about which I have fully made up my mind. I
have held by them firmly for many years, and have never had my opinion
shaken about them. I have lived in the belief of them for more than a third of
a century, and in the belief of them I hope to die.
The older I grow, the more do I feel convinced of their truth,
and the more satisfied am I that no other principles can explain the state of the Church and the world.

One thing only I wish to premise, before making my statement.

The reader must distinctly understand that I do not put forth my prophetical
views as articles of faith, but only as my private opinions. I do not say that
nobody can be saved who does not agree with me about prophecy. I am not
infallible. I am very sensible that holier and better men than myself do not
see these subjects with my eyes, and think me utterly mistaken. I condemn
nobody; I judge nobody. I only ask liberty to hold and state distinctly my
own views. The day will decide who is right. It is the new heart, and faith
in Christ’s blood, which are absolutely necessary to salvation. The man who
knows these two things experimentally may be wrong about prophecy, but
he will not miss heaven.

The following, then, are the chief articles of my prophetical creed:
1.
I believe that the world will never be completely converted to Christianity
by any existing agency, before the end comes. In spite of all that can be
done by ministers, churches, schools and missions, the wheat and tares
will grow together until the harvest; and when the end comes, it will
find the earth in much the same state that it was when the flood came in
the days of Noah (Matt. 13:24-30; 24:37-39).
2.
I believe that the widespread unbelief, indifference, formalism and
wickedness, which are to be seen throughout Christendom, are only
what we are taught to expect in God’s Word. Troublesome  times, departures
from the faith, evil men waxing worse and worse, love waxing cold, are
things distinctly predicted. So far from making me doubt the truth of
Christianity, they help to confirm my faith. Melancholy and sorrowful
as the sight is, if I did not see it I should think the Bible was not true
(Matt. 24:12; 1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Tim. 3: 1, 4, 13).
3.
I believe that the grand purpose of the present dispensation is to gather
out of the world an elect people, and not to convert all mankind. It
does not surprise me at all to hear that the heathen are not all converted
when missionaries preach, and that believers are but a little flock in any
congregation in my own land. It is precisely the state of things which I
expect to find. The gospel is to be preached ‘as a witness’, and then shall
the end come. This is the dispensation of election, and not of universal
conversion (Acts 15:14; Matt 24:14).
4.
I believe that the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is the great
event which will wind up the present dispensation, and for which we
ought daily to long and pray. ‘Thy kingdom come’, ‘Come, Lord Jesus’,
should be our daily prayer. We look backward, if we have faith, to Christ
dying on the cross, and we ought to look forward no less, if we have
hope, to Christ coming again (John 14:3; 2 Tim. 4:8; 2 Peter 3:12)

5.
I believe that the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ will be a real,
literal, personal, bodily coming; and that as He went away in the clouds
of heaven with His body, before the eyes of men, so in like manner He
will return (Acts 1:11).
6.
I believe that after our Lord Jesus Christ comes again, the earth shall be
renewed, and the curse removed; the devil shall be bound, the godly shall
be rewarded, the wicked shall be punished; and that before He comes
there shall be neither resurrection, judgment, nor millennium, and that
not till after He comes shall the earth be filled with the knowledge of the
glory of the Lord (Acts 3:21; Isa. 25:6-0; 1 Thess. 4: 14-18; Rev. 20: 1 etc).
7.
I believe that the Jews shall ultimately be gathered again as a separate
nation, restored to their own land, and converted to the faith of Christ,
after going through great tribulation (Jer. 30:10, 11; 31:10; Rom. 11:25, 26;
Dan. 12:1; Zech. 13: 8, 9).
8.
I believe that the literal sense of the Old Testament prophecies has been
far too much neglected by the Churches, and is far too much neglected
at the present day, and that under the mistaken system of spiritualising
and accommodating Bible language, Christians have too often completely
missed its meaning (Luke 24: 25, 26).
9.
I do not believe that the preterist scheme of interpreting the Apocalypse,
which regards the book as almost entirely fulfilled
or the futurist scheme, which regards it as almost entirely unfulfilled
, are either of them to beimplicitly followed. The truth, I expect, will be found to lie between the two.
10.
I believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the great predicted apostasy
from the faith, and is Babylon and Antichrist, although I think it highly
probably that a more complete development of Antichrist will yet be
exhibited to the world (2 Thess. 2:3-11; 1 Tim. 4:1-3).
11.
Finally, I believe that it is for the safety, happiness and comfort of all true
Christians, to expect as little as possible from churches or governments
under the present dispensation, to hold themselves ready for tremendous
convulsions and changes of all things established, and to expect their
good things only from Christ’s second advent.

------------------------------------------------------
The student of prophecy will see at a glance that there are many subjects
on which I abstain from giving an opinion.
About the precise time when the present dispensation will end, about
the manner in which the heathen will be converted, about the mode in
which the Jews will be restored to their own land, about the burning up
of the earth, about the first resurrection, about the rapture of the saints,
about the distinction between the appearing and the coming of Christ, about
the future siege of Jerusalem and the last tribulation of the Jews, about the
binding of Satan before the millennium begins, about the duration of the
millennium, about the loosing of Satan at the end of the thousand years, about
the destruction of God and Magog, about the precise nature and position of
the new Jerusalem, about all these things, I purposely decline expressing my
opinion. I could say something about them all, but it would be little better
than conjecture. I am thankful that others have more light about them than I
have.
For myself, I feel unable at present to speak positively. If I have learned
anything in studying prophecy, I think I have learned the wisdom of not
‘making haste’ to decide what is true.
I am well aware that the views I have laid down appear to many persons
very gloomy and discouraging. The only answer I make to that charge is this:
Are they scriptural? Are they in accordance with the lessons of history and
experience?
To my mind they certainly are. I see human failure and human
corruption stamped on the conclusion of all dispensations preceding our
own. I see much in the present state of the world to make me expect that the
present dispensation will not end better than those which have gone before.
In short, there seems an inherent tendency to decay in everything that man
touches. There is no such thing as creature perfection. God is teaching that
lesson by all His successive modes of dealing with mankind. There will be no
perfection till the Lord comes. The patriarchal, the Mosaic and the Christian
dispensations all tend to prove this. Those words of Scripture shall yet be
verified, ‘I will overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose
right it is; and I will give it Him’ (Ezek. 21:27). When the Lord Jesus comes
back to earth, and the tabernacle of God is with men, then will there be
perfection, but not till then. God will have all the glory at last, and all the
world shall confess that without God, man can do nothing. God shall be ‘all
in all’ (1 Cor. 15:28).
The one point on which I desire to fix the eyes of my own soul, is the
second personal coming of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To that ‘blessed
hope and glorious appearing’, I wish, by God’s help, to direct all who read
this volume. God forbid that anyone should neglect present duties!
To sit idly waiting for Christ, and not to attend to the business of our respective
positions, is not Christianity, but fanaticism.
Let us remember in all our daily employments, that we serve a Master who is coming again

If I can only stir up one Christian to think more of that second coming, and to keep it more prominently before his mind, I feel that the volume will not have been published in vain.
If any one ask me why I have chosen this particular period for the
republication of these prophetical tracts, I think it is sufficient answer to
point to the times in which we live. I do not forget that we are poor judges of
our own days, and are very apt to exaggerate their importance. But I doubt
much whether there ever was a time in the history of our country, when
the horizon on all sides, both political and ecclesiastical, was so thoroughly
black and lowering. In every direction we see men’s hearts ‘failing for fear,
and for looking for those things that seem coming on the earth’. Everything
around us seems unscrewed, loosened and out of joint. The fountains of
the great deep appear to be breaking up. Ancient institutions are tottering,
and ready to fall. Social and ecclesiastical systems are failing, and crumbling
away. Church and State seem alike convulsed to their very foundations, and
what the end of this convulsion may be no man can tell.
Whether the last days of old England have really come, whether her
political greatness is about to pass away, whether her Protestant Church
is about to have her candlestick removed, whether in the coming crash of
nations England is to perish like Amalek, or at length to be saved, and escape
‘so as by fire’, all these are points which I dare not attempt to settle: a very
few years will decide them. But I am sure there never was a time when it
was more imperatively needful to summon believers to ‘cease from man’, to
stand on their watchtowers and to build all their hopes on the second coming
of the Lord.
Happy is he who has learned to expect little from Parliaments
or Convocations, from Statesmen or from Bishops, and to look steadily for
Christ’s appearing! He is the man who will not be disappointed.
