We can write and/or advocate knowing we will change only a few fanatics' thinking.
 But we write nonetheless, to encourage the uncommitted to seriously consider our arguments based upon the truth, to restate and reinforce our beliefs, explaining why they deserve personal defense, to encourage like-minded people to engage the debate, for like leaders such as Margaret Thatcher reminded us,

 1) step one is winning the argument,

 2) step two, winning elections,

3) step three, putting sound policies in place.

 It starts with solid beliefs and great ideas constantly articulated in the public square.  This is where Mr Trump appears to be going - seek the Truth and all else will fall into place!
