“Rife Machine”

The name “Rife Machine” has been put on many modern frequency generators, sold today, even though they cannot output or produce Dr. Rife's original frequencies. In many ways this use of the words "Rife Machine" is used to imply that people are purchasing a machine ("Rife Machine") capable of producing Dr. Rife's frequencies, when in reality they are not.
Many of these frequency generators can only output low audio frequencies from 1 Hertz to about 10,000 Hertz or cycles per second and do not use the RF method Dr. Rife's machines used. The page at the following link goes into more depth on this subject.
What is a "True Rife" machine?
Dr. Rife's machine covered a larger frequency range from the low audio frequency range of 12,000 Hertz to about 20,000,000 Hertz (20 million) or cycles per second.
Dr. Rife passed away some 35 years ago and the last machine built under his direction was built in the 1950’s. Dr. Rife used the available equipment or technology of his day in his instruments. The instrument Dr. Rife used in the 1934 clinic was assembled from standard off-the-shelf frequency generating equipment.
By off-the-shelf we mean that anyone can purchase this equipment because it is standard electronic test equipment. In 1923 Dr. Rife purchased the Colin B. Kennedy Company equipment. Dr. Rife used the Kennedy Model 110, 220 and 281 in his work on microoganisms. The Model 110 had the broadest frequency range of these three models. It went from 12,000 Hertz to about 2 million Hertz. The frequencies that Dr. Rife used with the Kennedy equipment ranged from 139,200 Hertz for Anthrax to 1,604,000 (adjusted to 1,607,450 Hertz in 1936) for the BX cancer virus.
The audio frequencies that were used by Dr. Rife’s machines from 1936 through the 1950's were never intended to treat disease. The audio frequencies were used to create RF (Radio frequency) sideband frequencies which would hit the correct higher harmonic RF frequencies that would kill or devitalize the organisms.
Dr. Rife’s engineer, Philip Hoyland, built all of Dr. Rife’s instruments from 1935 to 1938. He built the instruments that used the audio frequencies and never told Dr. Rife or any of their business partners in the Beam Ray Corporation how the instrument worked. Philip Hoyland was trying to protect his interest and the Companies interests from those who might try to steal their technology.
This was necessary because they were not able to patent the frequencies or the Rife Ray equipment. This was due to the fact that all this technology was in public domain. Philip Hoyland ended up taking the Beam Ray Corporation to court in a legal dispute, which he lost. Though Dr. Rife and the Beam Ray Corporation won the legal battle against Philip Hoyland they still did not find out how Philip Hoyland designed these audio frequency instruments to work on harmonics. The Beam Rays Company came to its end in 1939 because the legal battle bankrupted the Company. The secret of Philip Hoyland’s audio frequency instrument remained hidden until 2010 when an original instrument was analyzed.

For the past 60 years no one knew how the Rife Ray #5 or Beam Ray Clinical instrument audio frequencies worked with the high RF carrier frequency. Due to this lack of knowledge many people have been wrongly using the audio frequencies for the treatment of disease. What even made things worse is in the 1950’s two of Dr. Rife's business partners, Crane and John Marsh, lowered the audio frequencies by a factor of ten times. This decision was made because they did not understand how the instrument really worked.
The changes that were made at this time compromised the instruments effectiveness. Because of these mistakes the wrong frequencies have been used for almost 60 years and people have built instruments that can only output low audio frequencies. This means that almost all the frequency generators that people call "Rife machines" which are sold on the market today are limited to just low audio frequencies and cannot output Dr. Rife's original high RF frequencies. "The Rife Machine Report" which is on this web site gives in great detail the workings of Dr. Rife’s instruments and the 2010 discovery of how Philip Hoyland’s audio frequency instrument worked.

When looking to purchase a frequency generator the two most important considerations when purchasing a frequency generator is the FREQUENCY RANGE and POWER OUTPUT of the instrument. If it does not have a frequency range which goes from the audio range to about 20,000,000 Hertz (20 million or 20 Megahertz) then you will not be able to use Dr. Rife’s original high RF frequencies. With a frequency generator that has the ability to cover the entire frequency range of 1 Hertz to 20 Megahertz it will be possible to not only use Dr. Rife’s high RF frequencies but also use many of the low audio frequencies that people have found that seem to help with many conditions.
Many people ask, why would anyone want to be limited to the low audio frequencies, which were wrongly used for the treatment of disease, when Dr. Rife’s correct frequencies were all in the higher RF range? It was Dr. Rife’s high RF frequencies that Dr. Milbank Johnson used in the 1934 cancer and tuberculosis clinic, not the low audio frequencies.

After this 1934 clinic Dr. Milbank Johnson want an instrument built that would be put into the comforts of a single cabinet. Dr. Rife’s original equipment consisted of several pieces of equipment and was difficult to move around. In 1935 Philip Hoyland was hired by Dr. Johnson and Dr. Rife to move the frequency generating equipment forward from the 1920's technology to the newer technology available in the 1930's. This new instrument was called the Rife Ray #4. But even this new instrument was nothing revolutionary because it was a standard design used during that time period.
One year later in 1936 Philip Hoyland built the Rife Ray #5 or the Beam Ray Clinical machine and it used a standard M.O.P.A. transmitter design. M.O.P.A stands for “Master Oscillator Power Amplifier.” This design had been used for several years and all Hoyland did was attach the ray tube where the metal antenna was connected. A ray tube was just an X-ray tube re-gassed with noble gases such as neon, argon or helium. These gases do not put off any harmful X-rays and were safe to use. The safety of these gases have been proven over the many years by the fact that light bulb companies use these types of gases in the light bulbs that they sell for public use.
The Rife Ray #4 built in 1935 used Dr. Rife’s original high RF frequencies that ranged from 139,200 Hertz to 1,607,450 Hertz. Anyone that knows anything about frequencies knows that these frequencies are not audio frequencies, they are radio frequencies. Dr. Rife’s #4 instruments used these frequencies directly output through the ray tube. It did not used Philip Hoyland’s Beam Rays M.O.P.A. design which hid the frequencies in order protected their technology.

This M.O.P.A design used in the Rife Ray #5 or Beam Ray Clinical audio frequency instrument was built in 1936 for the Beam Ray Corporation. The important thing to remember is the audio frequencies used in the instrument were not used for the treatment of disease. This is where the big mistake has been made for the last 60 years. The audio frequencies were used to create harmonic high frequency sideband frequencies. It was one of these harmonic sideband frequencies that would hit a higher harmonic of Dr. Rife's original frequency and treat the disease. This sounds somewhat complex and this is why Philip Hoyland was able to hide the method he used in the Rife Ray #5 instrument.

This same basic M.O.P.A design was updated and used in the 1953 AZ-58 style Beam Ray Clinical replica audio instrument. The major difference that was made to the 1953 AZ-58 instrument was the audio frequency range. Due to the lack of understanding how the instrument really worked the audio frequencies were lowered by a factor of ten times. This made it so the sideband method used by Philip Hoyland to produce the proper high RF sideband frequencies no longer worked. Another big mistake was made when they changed the high RF carrier frequency. If the RF carrier frequency was changed then the audio frequencies would not work because they were calculated to match the carrier frequency to produce the proper sideband frequencies which treated the disease. These two mistakes compromised the 1953 AZ-58 instrument and made it so it no longer worked on Dr. Rife’s high RF frequencies.

By the late 1950's Dr. Rife’s business partners, John Crane and John Marsh, decided to take an off-the-shelf frequency generator and try using in it with the same low audio frequencies used by the 1953 AZ-58 Beam Ray replica ray tube instrument. Instead of using the ray tube instrument they plugged some metal disks with handles into the off-the-shelf frequency generator and used them to make contact with the body. Today people use metal hand cylinders and foot plates. Some companies put down this method of using metal hand cylinders and claim that only a ray tube will work due to their incorrect understanding of the "Skin Effect." The first link below will take you to a page on this site that will show that metal hand cylinders work better than ray tubes within certain power ranges. The second link gives the complete scientific report which proves that frequencies will enter the body using metal hand cylinders. This inforation is well worth reading.
Metal Hand Cylinders or Hand Held Ray Tubes
Rife Frequencies and the "Skin Effect"
This simple change of using metal hand cylinders worked better than they ever thought it would. This also made it possible for anyone to take a standard off-the-shelf frequency generator and use it with any of the frequencies found by Dr. Rife as long as the frequency generator had the correct frequency range and power output. Unfortunately the off-the-shelf generator that they used did not have a high enough frequency range to output Dr. Rife true high RF frequencies. It was only capable of output low audio frequencies. Thus was born the low audio frequency instruments which are used today and are called "Rife Machines".
The idea to use a standard off-the-shelf frequency generator was a good idea. But using one with a low audio frequency range was not. This common sense decision to use standard off-the-shelf frequency generating equipment, of the correct frequency range, means that anyone can use standard off-the-shelf frequency generating test equipment the way that Dr. Rife did as long as it has sufficient power output. There are companies that sell many so called "Rife Machines." Almost all of these so called Rife machines are nothing but low audio frequency generators. They call them "Rife Machines" in order to get people to believe that their generator is somehow different than a standard off-the-shelf frequency generator. In most cases standard off-the-shelf frequency generators have a much higher frequency range than many of these so called Rife machines. It isn’t that these so called Rife machines are not good frequency generating equipment but they are just limited to the low audio frequency range and low power output.

As explained Dr. Rife used frequencies that ranged from the audio range to the high RF radio range. To cover this range requires a frequency generator that has a range from 1 Hertz to about 20 million Hertz. Most people want to use all the frequencies that Dr. Rife found, not just a few of them. This is where these so called "Rife Machines" fall short. They only output frequencies in the low audio range and have no capability of putting out frequencies in the range that Dr. Rife used in his 1920's and 1930's equipment. Because of the initial mistake of using the audio frequencies for the treatment of disease many people started to use other audio frequencies to see if they could possibly help with additional health problems. Because of this decision there are many hundreds of audio frequencies which have been found that have helped with hundreds of other health conditions. Somehow out of this mistake of using the wrong frequencies a very positive thing happened.

Because of what has just been explained people should make sure that they purchase a good off-the-shelf frequency generator that covers the full range of frequencies that Dr. Rife used, including the low audio range. Another important thing to consider is the fact that the cheaper the frequency generator the fewer the features it may have. Many of the cheaper frequency generators ($500 to $1000) have accuracy problems which means their frequencies will wander. This is very annoying when you are trying to stay on a specific frequency. The frequency generators in the $1100 to $2000 range are extremely accurate. Most people would rather spend more money and get something easy to use. There are a few machines that sell for less than $500 which use digitally accurate frequencies (they are referred to as digital "Rife Machines") but they do not convert their signal to analog. If the output signal is not converted to analog the frequencies will not work properly.
Another problem is they are built so cheaply that many people have complained about the poor quality. Another major factor is these low priced frequency generators do not have sufficient power output to really work the way people expect. These instruments do not put out even 1 watt of power. Most are even worse than 1 watt of power output. They only output one fifth (1/5) of 1 watt . You really need about 1 1/2 watts to get good results with an instrument that uses hand cylinders and foot plates. Dr. Rife's machine output about 50 watts to 300 watts of power. Of course these high powered instruments used a Ray tube. If an instrument is so small that you can almost hold it in the palm of your hand you can be sure that it will never work the way Dr. Rife's machines worked. You get what you pay for!
Memory is a very important feature that almost everyone wants to have in a frequency generator. This allows for the storing of many frequency sets that you may want to use over and over again. Many of the frequency lists on the internet have several hundred different frequency sets for various problems. Having adequate memory is a must when using these lists. There are only a few off-the-shelf frequency generators that have adequate memory for storing frequencies that you may want to use over and over again. When you have memory in an instrument you do not have to turn the dial to every frequency you want to use over and over again. Once the instrument is programmed with the frequencies it will automatically change from one frequency to another. If you would rather have an instrument that has the ability to store frequency sets that you want to use over and over again make sure the instrument has sufficient memory and the ability to program frequency sets into it.

The ability to sweep a frequency is another feature you will most likely want in a frequency generator. The ability to put in a start frequency and then have it sweep to an end frequency is a very desirable feature. If the instrument will not let you do this then you will have to manually do the sweep. Anyone who has had to do this hand sweeping method really appreciates having an instrument that has the ability to automatically sweep over a small or large range of frequencies.

Another great feature is having a clock in a frequency generator that will allow you to set the amount of time you want the frequency or sweep to run. Without this feature you have to watch your clock and change to the next frequency by yourself. Having a frequency generator that will automatically do this is a lot easier to use than one that does not have this feature.

These are just a few of the more important features that you may want to consider when looking for a frequency generator. The last feature and the most important one is the power output of an instrument. Most of the off-the-shelf frequency generators only have a peak to peak voltage of 10 to 18 volts. It is not hard to understand the higher the voltage the better the generator will work. You will want one with at least 35 volts peak to peak. Some go as high as 120 volts peak to peak and are even better to work with. The current is limited so they are safe to use.

Another thing to realize is the fact that none of this off-the-shelf frequency generating equipment is medical equipment. If a manufacturer calls his frequency generator a Rife machine then it could be considered medical equipment and regulated by the FDA. This is why Rife’s name should never be used to define frequency generating equipment. Off-the-shelf frequency generators are considered electronic test equipment. Do not expect that any of these companies that sell electronic test equipment will talk to you about how to use this equipment to treat yourself. If you mention anything about what Dr. Rife did with a frequency generator they will probably not want to talk to you about this subject. These companies do not want their equipment to be considered medical equipment and be under the jurisdiction of the FDA. They would never be so foolish as to call their electronic test equipment a “Rife Machine.”

We have on this site a list of some off-the-shelf frequency generators for you to put into the search engines and find. It is up to you to decide which instrument you may want to purchase. All of these off-the-shelf instruments that we have listed cover the range of frequencies that Rife used in his equipment. Memory, frequency range and sweep capabilities are what you will want to consider. Make sure you ask if their frequency generator has the ability to store frequency sets. Also make sure they can at least program and store up to 1000 channels in memory. At the link below is a list of frequency generators. The makers of the GB-4000 also make a high frequency ray tube instrument like those used in the 1930's. They are the only company that we know of that builds a variable high frequency ray tube instrument replica of the original 1930's M.O.P.A. equipment. Frequency Generators

If you decide to purchase an off-the-shelf frequency generator and use it the way that Dr. Rife did then you will want to purchase our Universal Frequency List. Also, there are frequency lists on the web that are in public domain that can be used by anyone as long as your frequency generator has the full frequency range we have discussed. The website below has several frequency lists.
www.electroherbalism.com
All you have to do is look up the frequencies on these lists for anything that you want to experiment with and run them for 3 to 5 minutes each, every two or three days. That is all Dr. Rife did and that is all you have to do. It really is that simple. Do not let indecision paralysis keep you from doing nothing. It seems like everyone wants someone to hold their hand through everything and tell them what to do. No one can give you any better understanding than to just do what Dr. Rife did. Run the frequencies for 3 to 5 minutes every two or three days and see what happens.

Some people want to know if they can run the frequencies every day. It is a free country you can do whatever you want to do. If you over do it your body will let you know. Use common sense and start slow. If you have a strong reaction then just back off and take more time between uses. This is what Dr. Rife said the doctors did that used the equipment. Use your own common sense when doing anything. When you ask someone for their suggestion, advice or recommendation you are asking them to be your doctor. If they are not a medical doctor they could get into legal trouble if they give you any advice. Do not ask someone to hang themselves when they really cannot give you any better understanding than what Dr. Rife did.
