Hardness of the Heart?

Life is a like a trip down at a country road!   You just never know what is going to happen!

You start out from home and move on toward the open road seeking to discover the true meaning of your life! Around every turn there are opportunities...

But you must always be on the lookout for whatever comes your way.

Much of what we see and do is confused with the many falsehoods in life!


Many people seem to have Hardened Hearts - you can be hardened toward God and still be a good person. This is caused because of our rebellion or sin in many areas of our lives...


Most of us can remember or even think of a time when they saw God produce a miracle in their life.

Or if something resulted which could be considered a miracle; yet often it becomes lost in their minds in the months or years that follow.


Many have had a miracle happen in their life and thought ;

" I will never doubt God again! " Yet, shortly some bad situation happens and throws them into a complete reversal. Often they totally forget what God has done in their life -

this is Hardness of the Heart!


People tend to validate in their lives - at times attending church, maybe stopping to help someone along the road, or even giving money and /or time to a person in need!


What is Hardness of the Heart?


It is not perceiving or understanding the fullness of the Truth!

* It does not mean that you do not know the truth; it simply means that you do not perceive that truth in a way which will change your heart!


Christ preached this message often we will call it - " when just the facts won't do.."

The disciples often had knowledge and facts yet even when they remembered them - the facts didn't influence their behavior. Since facts did not change their circumstances - their knowledge was non-productive, all because they did not have the wisdom to use it!

Again that's Hardheartedness!


How does this effect you friend?


Hardness of the Heart does not mean that you do not know what is true in your head (mind), but it means that simple knowledge is not productive!

Someone could say " Quote me a healing scripture!"

You could reply:


- Isaiah 53:5, (NKJV)

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.


- Matthew 8:17, (NKJV)

17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

“He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”


- 1 Peter 2:24, (NKJV)

24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.



- 3 John 2 , (NKJV)

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.


or several scriptures yet many who were sick would still not be healed!


So is God's Word not producing?


Many would say " Well , I just do not know enough; I need to learn more!"


If that were true then on one who had just been born again; could ever see a manacle.

Yet many people then and now - knew less of the Word of God than you and I may know; but they saw more miracles happen! WHY??


Well it is not based upon just your knowledge of the Bible, or Holy Scriptures - because many people who have never heard any of the Gospel of Christ today - Once they hear someone preach and mention that Jesus heals, get up out of their wheelchairs and beds, throwing their crunches away; because they are healed instantly! WHY??


Because the Word of God penetrates their hearts. Yet for most of us it does not happen.


Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV)

20 My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.


Basically God is asking us to pay attention!


Up to now we have been talking about Hardness of the Heart; but did you know it is reversible?


* That is if you become more sensitive to God and hardened to the ways of the world.

Once you understand how hardheartedness of the Heart starts - then you can learn how to stop it and reverse it's effects upon your life and to whom you may minister!
