Dr. Ben Kim's Natural Health Newsletter
January 5, 2017
Dear Reader,
One simple tool that I find useful for providing a
quick look at a person's overall health status is a
pulse oximeter.
Commonly employed in emergency rooms where a quick,
non-invasive reading of oxygenation level can help
physicians make diagnostic and treatment decisions,
portable pulse oximeters have become quite inexpensive,
making it easier for many to have one on hand.
For a look at the unit that I use on an everyday basis,
please feel free to view my latest post here:

Simply put, the more oxygen you have in your blood,
the greater your energy and healing capacity are.
One of the best ways of ensuring a high oxygenation
level is to routinely engage in breathing exercises.
You'll find countless such exercises with a simple
google search, all of which I'm sure are useful in
some degree.
The four breathing exercises that I routinely share
with others are as follows:
1. Inhale for about two seconds, then exhale for as
long as you comfortably can through your mouth as though
you are steadily blowing out a bunch of candles. Repeat
for five cycles.
2. Inhale for five seconds, hold your breath for 20
seconds, then exhale for ten seconds. Repeat for five
cycles.
3. Inhale slowly as long as you comfortably can, then
exhale slowly as long as you comfortably can. Repeat for
five cycles.
4. Inhale slowly as long as you comfortably can, counting
how many seconds this span is, then, when you stop inhaling,
hold your breath for the same number of seconds, then
exhale as long as you comfortably can. Repeat for five
cycles.
Always inhale through your nasal passageways. You can
exhale through your nose or mouth.
Even adopting one of the above breathing exercises as
a part of your morning and evening routines can improve
your health through improved oxygenation and autonomic
nervous system tone. As you increase parasympathetic
tone and decrease sympathetic nervous system output,
the many glands of your endocrine system will move toward
balanced output of hormones that regulate all of your
cellular activities.
If you don't already engage in breathing exercises on
a daily basis, I encourage you to create a visible
reminder to do so - perhaps a sticky note or two -
wherever you tend to be first thing in the morning and
in the evening. You might also ask a friend or family
member to be your partner in reminding one another to
enjoy your breathing exercises twice daily.
Happy breathing!

Thought of the Moment:
No one else has access to the world you carry around
within yourself; you are its custodian and entrance.
No one else can see the world the way you see it. No
one else can feel your life the way you feel it. Thus
it is impossible to ever compare two people because each
stands on such different ground. When you compare yourself
to others, you are inviting envy into your consciousness;
it can be a dangerous and destructive guest.
