GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF POLITICS!!

GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF POLITICS!!

Opening his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him…”

------ The book of Acts, chapter 10, verse 34

Some that don’t know any better and actually take the time to read my wall postings, on occasion, may remember I posted a snippet regarding the sad loss of TWO close friends, within a one week period (just before Christmas).

I mentioned having the privilege of attending Pastor Ken’s memorial service and that the crowd for him was overwhelming in numbers, not because he was a politician but because of the number of lives that he impacted and also because he would not have allowed his disability challenges to stop him from doing what God called him to, in his relatively short life span.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of some closing thoughts for my friend Marie, at her memorial service. Having lost two sisters myself, (while they were relatively still young moms), I realized in joyful retrospect, while Marie was among us, listening to her hearty laughter always brought back fond sister memories of our family’s slap happy laughter, often as late as midnight.
Quite a few friends already mentioned, on Facebook, so many other great attributes about Marie and while it is warranted to repeat over and over, I won’t belabor the same points but I am sure she knows in her new celestial environment that she surely will be missed.

So as I quickly fell into the human nature impulse of “crowd comparison” and while Marie had a great number of friends and family as well that showed up to bring closure, I realized in the solemn moments, two important points:

1. A wake or memorial service is not for the departed but for our own “painful closures”.

2. The God of grace, is no respecter of any persons earthly accomplishments (sometimes we call it “works”).
So the size of the “going away party” at this end, WILL VARY but the homecoming reception at the other end, WILL NOT VARY.

So guess what, if either Pastor Ken or Marie were working on their 2nd PhD thesis dissertation, wrote their 5th best seller book, entered their 2nd term in politics or finished their final Hollywood blockbuster (rated "G" for Godly) – both of their names are going to be found using the same font, in the “Lambs Book of Life” guest list. The reception at the pearly gate, spoken by God, himself, will also NOT VARY – they will both still hear the same words, “well done, my good and faithful servant, welcome home”...
