Philipsburg, the capital of Sint Maarten
In 1763, a Dutch navy captain, John Philips, founded Philipsburg on the southern coast of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, turning it into a major trading port of the Caribbean.
He was hardly the first to recognize the tropical island’s value: When Christopher Columbus spotted the island in 1493, Carib tribes had already displaced the Arawak people who’d previously inhabited the island for at least 3,500 years.
Today, Philipsburg is the capital of Sint Maarten, which covers the southern 40 percent of the island and is a constituent country of the Netherlands. (The northern part of the island, Saint-Martin, is a French sovereignty.)

Philipsburg is also a major tourist destination, and many cruise ships include it as a port of call.
Notice how - in 1493, Carib tribes had already displaced the Arawak people who’d previously inhabited the island for at least 3,500 years. Showing that it was not only the Europeans who came and took lands from native peoples... It was also common in Asia, Africa and the Americas...
Therefore the current {politically incorrect notion that it was only the evil white men who did it all to native peoples is not totally true!} this is the same with slavery and much of the death and distraction in the history of the world... No one group can actually claim that they were innocent of selfish actions toward other peoples...
It has been part of our fallen and evil led thoughts from the Devil since the garden of Eden!
