We all are given a period of time upon this earth! It is what we do with it that counts! Much of our time is spent in the daily mundane chores of life. Whatever that maybe - but beyond that we have the possibility of greatness and wonder.
We must ask ourselves what is our purpose on earth?
The world will tell you it is the search for fame and fortune!
Yet all those who have traveled that path have been disappointed and ask what was the allure?
We must look to the whole and eternal truth! But where is it?
It exist in the our self conscience and in the truth set before us.
Most will ask where and how?
Our desire should be to seek first the Kingdom of God in your life.
Prayer should be our first step in seeking our purpose.
Go to the source, and learn to listen to the Word of God in your soul!
God understands the language of the heart, and that is the language in which we must speak to God.
Not only "give ear to my words," but "consider my meditation;" and
Ps. 19:14, "Let the words of my mouth, proceeding from the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight."
This therefore we have to do in every prayer,—we must speak to God, we must write to him; we say we hear from a friend whom we receive a letter from; we must see to it that God hears from us daily.
He expects and requires it. Though he has no need of us or our services, nor can be benefited by them, yet he has obliged us to offer the sacrifice of prayer and praise to him continually.
We have something to say to God every day. Many are not sensible of this, and it is their sin and misery: they live without God in the world; they think they can live without him, are not sensible of their dependence upon him, and their obligations to him, and, therefore, for their parts they have nothing to say to him; he never hears from them, no more than the father did from his prodigal son
So now you should understand how and why it is necessary to get out of your self-centered self!
We all need to find the purpose in our life, plus learn how to love both God and your neighbors.
How long it takes depends upon the development in your heart and your willingness to learn!
Unless you stop then come to realize the direction and purpose in your existence you will just wonder aimless through this world.
How long it takes it is up to you!
