Parable of the Unjust Steward

Luke 16:1 "And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods."

Luke 16:1-18 (NKJV)

The Parable of the Unjust Steward

16 He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was [a]wasting his goods. So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’
“Then the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.
I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’
“So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ And he said, ‘A hundred [b]measures of oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ So he said, ‘A hundred [c]measures of wheat.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.
“And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous [d]mammon, that when [e]you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home. 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?
13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

The Law, the Prophets, and the Kingdom

14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they [f]derided Him. 15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 “The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it. 17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one [g]tittle of the law to fail.
18 “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.

 ==========================

The unjust steward was covetous. He had not been faithful to his master or to his master's debtors. He had wasted his master's goods on himself. When found out, his self-serving nature considered the options, and decided there had to be a change. He decided to use his lord's money to make friends so that when he was fired he would have someone to help him.

His master was apparently wealthy enough that he didn't take offense at the steward's discounting of the debts owed to him, but rather he commended the steward. He didn't commend his dishonest ways, but he was commending the fact that he had finally used his lord's money to plan for the future instead of wasting it on himself. Although the steward was motivated by what he would ultimately gain, there was prudence in his actions. This was lacking before.

In this sense, the children of this world (lost men) are wiser than the children of light (born again men) because they plan for the temporal future.

Jesus is telling us to use money (the unrighteous mammon) to make to ourselves friends that would receive us into "everlasting" habitations. The use of the word "everlasting" denotes that Jesus is now talking about our eternal future. The people who have been saved and blessed by our investments in the kingdom of God will literally receive us into our everlasting home when we pass on to be with the Lord.

Our material possessions have been given to us by God so that we are actually stewards of His resources. The Lord gave us this wealth to establish His covenant on this earth - not so that we could consume it upon our own lusts.

You have been blessed to be a blessing!

Understanding Logic - 1)

** Note: Logic is the proof of validity {Truth} or the opposite not true.  All of the electronics operate on  Boolean Algebra to design and provide the positive actual actions for circuits to function properly!  Because it only successfully works one way -  the True way!

   ========================

Much of the legal and political, or historical language must follow some form of Logic and be either Valid (true) or Invalid (false)!  Because otherwise many people just " Blow Smoke " or put out falsehoods which is where much of the News and Political- socialist jargon comes from! This is why you should understand Logic so as to not be dupped by the advertising or news!

There is no real logic in most of the advertising, Political propaganda, or much of the News - because they want it presented in a controlled form! This is part of the control put on people today!

Which is pure Propaganda or Not True!

All logic argument forms fall into one of the following; there must be a proposition or statement which goes on to either prove the conclusion true or false!

Much of life is examined or explained as either:

- An argument form is either deductive or inductive:

Where the deduction form when it which claims it's premises provide conclusive evidence.

Which can be either:

Valid/correct or else invalid/incorrect.

A Valid argument can not the true unless all of its premises support the conclusion!

Valid means the premises and conclusion are so related that it is absolutely impossible for all the premises to be true unless the conclusion is also true!

------------------------------------------

- While an inductive form claim only that premises provide some evidence for the truth of its conclusion.

Which are neither:

Valid/correct nor invalid/incorrect

Which may be evaluated as either better or worse to a degree of likelihood or probability!

Truth and falsehood may be predicted from the propositions, but never arguments.

While a Sound argument is where the conclusion is always true!

If a deductive argument which fails to establish the truth of the conclusions is then unsound:

Which does not mean either valid nor that not all of its premises are true!

There has to be either a correctness or incorrectness of any argument form!

The language used is either:

Informative = Cause and effect

Expressive = Personal feelings

Directive = Order or command

====================================

Once you get a firm understanding of Logic;

Then you will know it the argument is either true or false!

** Part 2 will discuss Many of the informal Argument form fallacies used!

What Does the Bible Say About...: The Ultimate Bible Answer Book.

Christ will shine on you

What is done in secret should often not be discussed in public!

Ephesians 5:7-14  (NIV)

Therefore do not be partners with them.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)
10 so find out what pleases the Lord.
11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
    rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

We must each realize that deeds of darkness done in secret should not be given any credence!  Speek only the truth and honor.

The only time my Father ran!
** Don't choose the temporal praise of people over a real personal relationship.
Date:   7/29/2018

Luke 15:20 "And he arose, and went to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, then running, fell on his neck, and kissed him."

For this boy's father to have seen him "a great way off" would imply that the Father had been eagerly awaiting his son's return. Certainly, in the spiritual application of this parable, our Heavenly Father is longing to cleanse and receive the sinner, if he will just repent and come to Him for forgiveness.

Jesus was using this parable to rebuke the Pharisees for their harsh, self-righteous, unforgiving attitude towards sinners. The older brother in this parable was symbolic of the Pharisees.

Like this brother, the Pharisees had not lived an outward life of rebellion and they thought that others who didn't measure up to their standards were surely hated by God. But, "God so loved the world" and "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."

Just as this older brother was self-centered and jealous, the Pharisees were not operating in the love of God towards sinners because they were too in love with themselves. The Pharisees resented Jesus giving the sinners,  what the Pharisees thought they deserved.

If the relationship with his father had been the real desire of the older brother, he would have rejoiced to see his father's joy at the return of his son. The repentant prodigal son had learned the vanity of things and he had come home to a relationship with his father that neither he nor his older brother had known before.

The Scribes and Pharisees, like the older brother, had gotten caught up in serving self through their religious actions. The publicans and sinners who repented were supplying their Father with what He really wanted - relationship.

Relationship with the Father was always available to the scribes and Pharisees, but they chose the temporal praise of men rather than relationship with God.

Praise of others will never replace a close relationship like with your Father!

If you can not accept the truth then what? part 2

If you can not accept the truth then what? part 2

** First look for things you can recognize as true or truthful -
then expand to find more which fall into this realm of existence. **
Date:   7/28/2018
When all else has dissolved and gone away only the pure Truth will survive -  because lies don't last! They will be found out and exposed sooner or later.

Where did I find the Truth?

By applying Logic.
Truth is whatever it is - like it or not!

Many people only seek that which suits their ideas and wants.

Yet desires and wishes will ever make something true.
We will show some practical examples of where the truth is presented.:
First look at things you feel or can recognize as true or truthful - then expand to find more which fall into this realm of existence.

Much of this resides in areas of question or misdirection!
Yet thru the application of Formal Mathematical Logic most terms and debates can be relegated into a valid {true or correct} condition for the purpose of being Right or a {false or negative} if Wrong. This is very effective and a quick way to sort out truth from fiction.

While people tend lie and fabricate to support their own selfish wants and desires - which limit your understanding.  Which is a falsehood! Logic can prove the results either true or false.

So how did I realize the real truth?
Once you come to understand the facts at hand, then Logic can be used to solve the problem - will like all mathematical calculations. Then you will be able to find a solution to the equation (or problem) and prove either right or wrong whichever proves the absolute truth!
Just as simple as 2 + 2 = 4  {a true term}.
A logic statement must follow the  " if this then that " format type of statement! Which is exactly how the world uses and understands the truth!

Ex. A proposition is a discription of the argument or statement being asserted.
It must have a valence of T to be true, or else F to be considered False.
The assert something or to make an assertion is to means to make a positive, or truthful statement. A statement may be either true or false; if it may be written down or spoken.
If it is false it may be not written down or spoken unless it it is identified as false. Thus the valence of a propersition is it's " truth" or "falsity".  When it is true we use the (T) sign. If it is false we use the (F) sign.
A proposition is usually in the form of an equalitybut not all equalities are neessarialy peopositions. Consider the following Example:

1) 4 = 2 + 2
The statement appears to be true, it is not a propersition and may not be true.

2) 4 animals = 2 sheep + 2 cows
This is a proposition with a (True) valence, thus it is a true proposition.

3) 4 cows = 2 sheep + 2 cows = a (False) valence which is not true!
We can see that here the negation sign has been represented with the word NOT.

** A valid or true argument or propersition one where all the premises support or prove the conclusion!  Or else the argument in invalid or false!!

We will pick up this outline on determining the truth on a later blog.

People lie and fabricate to support their own selfish wants and desires so limit your understanding with this in mind. We all need a standard {something which represents the absolute item or thing} -
ex. measurements have " Standards " kept exactly for verification and proof of validity!

Therefore we must have certain standards to help us find the absolute truth!
One of the most available and proven truth standards has been the " Holy Bible". It has stood the test of time, alterations and always proven correct.

Now there have been some who disputed this - but when the comparison is made the Bible stood true over the course of time! Seek it as your truth anchor in life!

I did!

It can happen when we die to self and live for God.

Luke 15:28 "And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him."

LUKE 15:25-28  NKJV
25 “Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’
28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.

If this elder son had considered his brother, he would have rejoiced at his return even as his father did. Rather, he was totally self-centered (that's pride) and became angry. This illustrates Proverbs 13:10; "only by pride cometh contention."

How can we esteem others better than ourselves when in truth we really think we are better than others? Some people are better athletes than others. Some are better businessmen than others. Some are better speakers than others, and so forth. First, we need to recognize that our accomplishments don't make us better than others. There is a difference between what we do and who we are.

Better performance does not make a better person. A person's character can be severely wanting even though his performance is good. A classic example of this is found in the Pharisees of Jesus' day. They did the right things for all the wrong reasons. Inside they were corrupt. So our evaluation of others needs to change. God judges by looking on the inside, not the outside (1 Sam. 16:7). We need to esteem others on a different basis than what most of us do.

Secondly, to esteem someone better than ourselves simply means to value them more than we value ourselves. To some that may seem impossible, but it isn't.

It is exactly what Jesus did. If Jesus, who was God in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16), could humble Himself and value our good above His own welfare, then we should certainly be able to do the same.

It can happen when we die to self and live to God.
Self-centeredness and greed cause most of the world's problems.

25 July 2018

we have an intuitive knowledge of right and wrong

Knowledge of Right and Wrong

Luke 15:17 "And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!"

LUKE 15:11-17 NKJV

The Parable of the Lost Son

11 Then He said: “A certain man had two sons.
12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood.
13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with [a]prodigal living.
14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.
15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the [b]pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

God's Word makes it clear that the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23).
Romans 1:18-20 reveals that even those who don't know God's Word have an intuitive knowledge of right and wrong and God's judgment against sin.

Therefore, for anyone to live in sin, as depicted by this prodigal son, they have to be deceived. This is exactly what the Bible says is the case in 2 Corinthians 4:4. When Jesus said, "he came to himself," He was referring to the deception being removed and the son's spiritual eyes being opened.

Like this story of the prodigal, tragedy often brings people out of deception and back to their senses. It's not that God sends the tragedy. God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah, "Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee" (Jer. 4:18).
However, tragic situations do clearly illustrate that "it is not in man that walks to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23), and they cause us to look somewhere else for help. Although turning to God is always beneficial, regardless of what provides the motivation, "hard knocks" are not the best teacher.

Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

God's Word was given for reproof and correction and if we will submit to it, we can "be perfect, thoroughly furnished" without having to experience tragedy first.

Can you accept the challenge and stay the course?

Can you accept the challenge and stay the course?

Luke 14:28 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first, and count the cost, whether he have sufficient funds and ability to finish it?"
{In other words, do you have the drive, willpower to go the distance to truly follow and claim Jesus in order to become a true Disciple?}
LUKE 14:25-35

Leaving All to Follow Christ

25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

Tasteless Salt Is Worthless

34 “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the [a]dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Footnotes:

  1. Luke 14:35 rubbish heap
The parable of the man building a tower is a continuation of the teaching regarding what it takes to be a disciple of Jesus. This parable stresses commitment. "Jailhouse religion," where a person is only sorry he got caught and is trying to get out of a bad situation, will not produce true discipleship. It takes a forsaking of all to be Jesus' disciple. Jesus is simply saying, "count the cost."

Jesus' teaching on discipleship emphasizes commitment. Just as a king wouldn't engage in war without thoroughly considering all the possible outcomes, so no one should attempt to become a disciple of Jesus without counting the cost. It would be better not to start following Jesus than to start and then turn back.

When a person first comes to Jesus, it is impossible to know everything that following Jesus might entail. No one, however, should be fearful of making a total commitment because of some imagined problem that may never come to pass. There should be a willingness to forsake everything to follow Jesus.

Once we make that decision, then Christ begins to live through us (Gal. 2:20) and we find a strength that is not our own, equal to whatever test we may encounter.

" that my house may be filled."

Luke 14:16, 23 "Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: ...And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled."

LUKE 14:16-24 NKJV
16 Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the [a]maimed and the lame and the blind.’ 22 And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ 23 Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’ ”

Footnotes:

  1. Luke 14:21 crippled

The man who made the supper symbolizes our God who has invited "whosoever will" to come to Him. The parable teaches that it is not God who fails to offer salvation to everyone, but rather it is the invited guests who reject God's offer.

These people had feeble excuses just like the excuses of those today who don't accept God's offer of salvation. Therefore, the Lord's Marriage Supper of the Lamb will be furnished with "undesirables" from the world's point of view, not because God rejects the upper class, but because they reject Him.
Those who have an abundance of this world's possessions don't tend to recognize their need for God as much as those who are without.

Jesus' parable could also be applied to the Jewish nation. God offered salvation to the Jews but they, as a whole, refused Him. Therefore, the Lord sent His servants to the Gentiles to fill His kingdom.
This very parable proves that the Lord is not advocating us using force to convert people to Christianity, because this man accepted the decision of those who rejected his invitation.

Therefore, it must be understood that the Lord is admonishing us to compel them to come in by our persuasion or entreaty. The word "compel" denotes aggressiveness, even in persuading of people. The Church, as a whole, and all of us as individuals are not supposed to simply hang out our "shingle" and wait for the world to come to us. We are supposed to be aggressively going into all the world with the Good News.
We have an urgent command to be a witness because the time before our Lord's return is short.

The Facade - Chapter 1

 The Facade :
façade is =  A person’s facade is the image that a person presents to others: as Behind her facade of gentleness was a tough competitor.
The world tends to maintain many facades or false fronts using different ways to deceive or mislead others.  Sad but true - therefore we will explore these facades in life.

This story is about the pretense of a having a normal life in the face of deception and falsehood in the world today!! Mankind and the general society has tended to follow their own selfishness and greed leading toward failure!

First some advice and an objective view based on the Truth.  Follow and find how you can become a better person and get out of the muck and mire of failure due to the (facades) false fronts presented.

"A Revival of true godliness among us is the greatest of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work." (Christ Our Righteousness p. 146 (1929 ed.)

" For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind! "
2 Timothy1;7

" For our, God is not the Author of confusion but of  peace."
1 Corinthians 14:33

The world spins on looking for the truth which was just before them.
We will seek and display the elements of destruction and show how to find and follow the Absolute Truth.

The second chapter will show and identify some of the distracting and destructive elements at work in the general society today! This will allow both knowledge and a way to choose a course of salvation.

Just remember that only the Absolute truth will guide you and set you free!

Whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord

Saved??

Luke 13:23-24 "Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."
LUKE 13: 22-27

The Narrow Way

22 And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23 Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?”
And He said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26 then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. 29 They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. 30 And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.”
Jesus said that many will seek to enter salvation and will not be able to. There are many reasons for this, but it is not because God refused salvation to anyone. "The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men . . ." (Ti. 2:11) and God "is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Pet. 3:9).

There is effort involved in obtaining salvation. The effort is not for the purpose of earning salvation. That is a free gift (Rom. 5:15); but we do have to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12).
Faith in Jesus' goodness is what saves us - not our own goodness - and Satan is constantly trying to destroy our faith. We have to earnestly contend for the faith. True salvation is not just mental assent, but a real heart-felt commitment.

Many people today think that going to church and associating with Christians will provide them with salvation. Some people think that they are Christians because their parents were. But salvation is having a personal relationship with the Lord. You cannot inherit salvation through the natural birth process. "You must be born again."

We can rest assured that all those who hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled
(Mt. 5:6). "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

I and My Father are one

John 10:34 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, You are gods?"

JOHN 10:30-39
30 I and My Father are one.”

Renewed Efforts to Stone Jesus

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods” ’? 35 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;
38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and [a]believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”
39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

Footnotes:

  1. John 10:38 NU understand

Some people have tried to interpret this scripture to say that Jesus was disclaiming deity by associating Himself with the gods spoken of in Psalm 82:6. However, Jesus is not saying that He is a god only in the sense that the scriptures, spoke of men with divine authority as gods
(Ex. 4:16; 7:1; 22:28; Ps. 82:1).
In the verses before this, Jesus proclaimed His oneness with the Father and in His statements after this, He says that the Father is in Him and He is in the Father, making clear His claim to deity. Also, the Jews were not pacified by His answer, but they tried again to stone Him. If they would have understood His statements to mean that He was not proclaiming His deity, they would have left Him alone.

The comparison that Jesus is making is between the scriptures clearly stating that the Christ was God (Isa. 9:6) and the scriptures saying that rulers were gods (this refers to having divine authority - not deity). Jesus accepted their position and authority, because of the infallibility of the scriptures, and they should have done the same with Him. The scriptures prophesied His coming and the works that He would accomplish; and He fulfilled these prophecies as no one else could. His works proved He was the Messiah prophesied through scripture.

Jesus had already manifested supernatural power by His ability to walk through the midst of those who were trying to kill him and He eventually does the same thing here. But first, He refers back to Psalm 82:6. In this passage, God was speaking to the rulers of His covenant people, the Jews, and He called them gods. Jesus was saying, "If those in authority were called gods, how can you fault me for claiming to be the Son of God when I have fulfilled so many scriptures?"
