Stupid arguments and false information

Why is it when the Lib - Socialist party is in power or getting ready for an election all of a sudden there is global warming, or some type of total Smog choking, or even massive flooding or Earth Quakes being reported? Read today the oceans are going to flood because the Ice caps are melting.
Now, look at the other side of the coin!
Which is what I do attempt to seek the full disclosure and get to the truth! Here is an Article on the new coming Ice Age!

The worse some people make it seem the better they like it! This way they can play mini gods and get people to kick in more money and keep them voted into office.
Don't believe me, read and research for yourself - it seems to be a cycle!
Here is the article on the New Ice Age!

Forget Global Warming, The Sun Says An Ice Age Is Coming
As an electrical engineer, we were taught to check then verify whatever then you can find the absolute truth! Not much of the Hype put out by major news or impulsive politicians and con men eager to sell their wares od terror!

BTW: back in 1991 when Mt Pinatubo blew off in the Philippines - it blew more hydrogen sulfide Gas in 48 hours than all the cars built in the world! But to hear certain Demo politicians we were doomed - yet we are still here.

*8 Then there was Krakatoa in 1883 was another major atmospheric blow off. The result was far spread and cause many parts of the world to have an extensive cool winter for 3 years and the number colorGases pushed into the Atmosphere was many thousands of time than all our machines have been producing - so what is the story Folks!

The 1883 Krakatoa eruption darkened the sky worldwide for years afterward and produced spectacular sunsets throughout the world for many months. British artist William Ashcroft made thousands of colour sketches of the red sunsets halfway around the world from Krakatoa in the years after the eruption. The ash caused "such vivid red sunsets that fire engines were called out in New York, Poughkeepsie, and New Haven to quench the apparent conflagration."[18] This eruption also produced a Bishop's Ring around the sun by day, and a volcanic purple light at twilight.
In 2004, an astronomer proposed the idea that the red sky shown in Edvard Munch's famous 1893 painting The Scream is also an accurate depiction of the sky over Norway after the eruption.[19]
Weather watchers of the time tracked and mapped the effects on the sky. They labeled the phenomenon the "equatorial smoke stream".[20] This was the first identification of what is known today as the jet stream.[21]

For several years following the eruption, it was reported that the moon appeared to be blue and sometimes green. This was because some of the ash clouds were filled with particles about 1 µm wide – the right size to strongly scatter red light, while allowing other colors to pass. White moonbeams shining through the clouds emerged blue, and sometimes green. People also saw lavender suns and, for the first time, recorded noctilucent clouds.[18]

The Coming Mini-Ice-Age
Over the past 40 years, Al Gore and his Anthropogenic Global Warming crew warned millions would die from runaway heat. The cause of this runaway heat, they said, was human-produced Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

Gore and his crew and the mainstream media said the seas would rise, swamping island and low lying countries. It hasn’t happened. Could that be because an ice age is coming? Or is it just that their observations, measurements, theory, and modeling are all wrong.

James Hansen, Columbia University adjunct professor and climate activist, warned about dangerous climate change in his 1988 Congressional testimony.

Hansen said Manhattan’s West Side Highway would be underwater by 2008. It is now 2019, and the sea around Manhattan is practically unchanged. To illustrate just how crazy Hanson’s prediction was, note that the West Side Highway is 33 meters above sea level at its lowest point.
“The West Side Highway will be under water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds.” – Climate Scientist, Jim Hansen.

Manhattan isn’t underwater. Nowhere near it. All of their climate models are wrong, and their ten-year predictions keep failing.

The IPCC and Al Gore said the ice sheets would melt, never to return. That hasn’t happened. They said the North Pole would be free of ice and Antarctic melting would drown islands. None of that happened. And now NASA admits their instruments can’t see the snow falling on Antarctica that has compensated for ice loss.

Those NASA scientists never bothered to visit Antarctica to check to see if what they said was true. Until now. And now they admit they were wrong. At least they did, and that is a good thing. But the media and politicians persist with the “runaway global warming” fantasy.
The commonly believed story of “97% of scientists say global warming is caused by humans” is a completely fabricated lie. This outright lie is still being used as the basis for political discussion. This Forbes story reports what real climate scientists said about the mischaracterization of their papers.
Politicians and much of the world’s population have been tricked into believing CO2 is a poison. Especially school students who know almost nothing about the world and how propaganda works.
Certainly, the climate is changing, but the attempts to pin it all on CO2 are a miserable failure. Unfortunately, politics and research funding have caused half the population to be pitted against the other half.

God doesn’t fail to speak; we fail to hear

Romans 10:17

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed:
“Their sound has gone out to all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”

Note on Romans 10:17
This verse starts with the phrase, “so then.” That means this statement about faith coming through God’s Word is a conclusion or result of what was said before. Romans 10 is speaking about a faith righteousness versus a works righteousness. So it’s this message of righteousness by grace that causes faith to come. It’s specifically saying that the message of grace causes faith to come. See my note at Acts 14:9.
Life For Today Study Bible Notes

Note 5 at Romans 10:17: Faith comes by hearing God’s Word because God’s Word is His faith (see note 4 at Romans 3:3). People cannot be born again (see note 2 at John 3:3) through human faith. They have to use God’s supernatural faith (see note 2 at Matthew 8:10, note 4 at John 20:29, and note 6 at Romans 4:17) to receive God’s supernatural gift of salvation.
The only place to obtain God’s kind of faith is from God’s Word. Therefore, we cannot compromise God’s Word. It must be proclaimed boldly to make God’s faith available to those who choose to believe.

Note 6 at Romans 10:17: Notice that this verse says faith comes by “hearing,” not by “having heard.” People cannot rest on revelation they received from God years ago, unless they are still hearing the Lord speak those same truths to them now.
The Lord doesn’t fail to speak; we fail to hear. Therefore, we can keep our faith in the present tense if we will open our spiritual ears to hear what God’s Word is saying (Proverbs 4:20-22, see note 10 at Mark 6:52 and note 3 at Mark 8:17).

Out with the old!

The Old Man Is Gone

June 17th

John 8:44 'Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.'

John 8:39-47  (NKJV)

39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.”
Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the deeds of your father.”
Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.”
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

All of us were born in sin and were therefore 'by nature' the children of the devil. That's the reason we sinned. Our sins don't corrupt our nature, but our corrupt nature makes us sin. That's why we must be 'born again' and become new creatures (or a new creation) in Christ.

The scriptures teach that everyone was born with a sin nature or old man. For the Christian, the old man is dead. We do not have a nature that is driving us to sin. If that is the case, then why do we seem so bound to sin even after we experience the new birth? The reason is that our old man left behind what Romans 6:6 calls a body. Just as a person's spirit and soul leave behind a physical body at death, so our old man left behind habits and strongholds in our thoughts and emotions. The reason a Christian tends to sin is because of an unrenewed mind, not because of a sin nature.

Our old man ruled our thinking before we were born again. He taught us such things as selfishness, hatred, and fear and he placed within us the desire for sin. The old man is now gone, but these negative parts of his body remain. Until renewed, our minds continue to lead us on the course that our old man charted.

To experience the resurrection life of Jesus, we have to know that our old man is dead. Then, through the renewing of our minds, we destroy the body that the old man left behind. The end result is that we will not serve sin any longer

Are you sinking?

The Importance of Your Personal Relationship with God

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” —Luke 10:38-42

There’s nothing wrong with doing what is needed to entertain, but there has to be a priority on your relationship with the Lord.
We can’t be more occupied with good things than we are with spending time with God.

Yo u  h a v e  t o d i s c i p l i n e  y o u r s e l f  t o  m a k e  G o d      t o p  p r i o r i t y  a n d  b e  i n t e n t i o n a l  w i t h  y o u r time.

 “ N o ” i s  a  c o m p l e t e  s e n t e n c e .

Many find their identity in what they do instead of who they are in Christ. That’s a recipe to crash and burn.
Ministers sometimes allow people to take advantage of their time because they’re helping someone. That’s an easy way to burn out.
It’s only out of relationship with God that you can be truly effective.
Satan will snuff you out early if you aren’t full of God. “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” —Romans 8:5

When you set your heart on who you are and who God is you have strength to resist the devil.
Jesus did not have to, but even He intentionally spent time with the Father. There is nothing more important than your relationship with God.
 We have to set boundaries.
We are to make disciples, not be everything to everyone; they will always expect more from you.
You have to receive from the wellspring of life—find your source.
There are many things that are needful, but the only one that will sustain you is your relationship with the Lord.

It’s important to read books and go to meetings, but you need to learn to feed yourself by spending your own time with the Lord.
Learn to keep your mind stayed on God. You may not have time to keep your Bible open, but you can meditate on the scriptures He’s been speaking to you.

Worry is negative meditation. The part of you that worries can keep your mind focused on Him.
Even good things can ruin your relationship with the Lord if you get too busy with them.
The first step is to invite Jesus into your heart.
If you don’t know Him, call our prayer line: 719-635-1111, and a prayer minister will help you.
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” —Romans 5:5

It is almost impossible to be full of God without the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Prayer ministers will help you with that as well.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” —Colossians 3:15

The word ‘rule’ means ‘umpire’ or call the shots.
Anytime you begin to lose your peace, it is a clear sign you are sinking.

Faith and Belief

Love your neighbour and have faith in the Lord God!

People can believe and disbelieve at the same time.
Most people don’t have this concept. They think if they have faith, then there won’t be any unbelief. And if they have any unbelief, then there isn’t any faith. That’s not what God’s Word teaches. People can have faith and unbelief at the same time.

Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 17:20 that the reason they couldn’t cast the demon out of the boy was because of their unbelief. He didn’t say it was because of their little faith (as the New International Version renders that verse). Otherwise, His illustration that He goes on to give in that verse wouldn’t make sense. He said if their faith was as small as a mustard seed, they could cast a mountain into the sea with just their words.

A small amount of faith is sufficient to accomplish any miracle if it’s not negated, cancelled, or diluted by unbelief. Instead of just trying to build faith, we need to limit the amount of unbelief in our lives.

Amen!

Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War between Islam and the West,

** This is an historical event with which I have been familiar - it is past being brought to light!

Armenian Christian civilians, escorted by armed Ottoman Muslim soldiers, are marched through Harput (known as Kharpert by Armenians, the kaza of the Mamuret-ul Aziz), to a prison in the nearby Mezireh (via Wikipedia)
Today, April 24, marks the “Great Crime,” that is, the genocide of Christians—mostly Armenians but also Assyrians—that took place under the Islamic Ottoman Empire throughout World War I.  Then, the Turks liquidated approximately 1.5 million Armenians and 300,000 Assyrians.

Most objective American historians who have studied the question unequivocally agree that it was a deliberate, calculated genocide:
More than one million Armenians perished as the result of execution, starvation, disease, the harsh environment, and physical abuse.  A people who lived in eastern Turkey for nearly 3,000 years [more than double the amount of time the invading Islamic Turks had occupied Anatolia, now known as “Turkey”] lost its homeland and was profoundly decimated in the first large-scale genocide of the twentieth century.  At the beginning of 1915 there were some two million Armenians within Turkey; today there are fewer than 60,000….  Despite the vast amount of evidence that points to the historical reality of the Armenian Genocide, eyewitness accounts, official archives, photographic evidence, the reports of diplomats, and the testimony of survivors, denial of the Armenian Genocide by successive regimes in Turkey has gone on from 1915 to the present.
Similarly, in 1920, U.S. Senate Resolution 359 heard testimony that included evidence of “[m]utilation, violation, torture, and death [which] have left their haunting memories in a hundred beautiful Armenian valleys, and the traveler in that region is seldom free from the evidence of this most colossal crime of all the ages.”

In her memoir, Ravished ArmeniaAurora Mardiganian described being raped and thrown into a harem (consistent with Islam’s rules of war).  Unlike thousands of other Armenian girls who were discarded after being defiled, she managed to escape. In the city of Malatia, she saw 16 Christian girls crucified: “Each girl had been nailed alive upon her cross,” she wrote, “spikes through her feet and hands, only their hair blown by the wind, covered their bodies.”  Such scenes were portrayed in the 1919 documentary film Auction of Souls, some of which is based on Mardiganian’s memoirs.
Whereas the genocide is largely acknowledged in the West, one of its primary if not fundamental causes is habitually overlooked: religion.  The genocide is usually articulated through a singularly secular paradigm, one that factors only things that are intelligible from a secular, Western point of view—such as identity and gender politics, nationalism, and territorial disputes. Such an approach does little more than project modern Western perspectives onto vastly different civilizations and eras.
War, of course, is another factor that clouds the true face of the genocide.  Because these atrocities mostly occurred during World War I, so the argument goes, they are ultimately a reflection of just that—war, in all its chaos and destruction, and nothing more.  But as Winston Churchill, who described the massacres as an “administrative holocaust,” correctly observed, “The opportunity [WWI] presented itself for clearing Turkish soil of a Christian race.”  Even Adolf Hitler had pointed out that “Turkey is taking advantage of the war in order to thoroughly liquidate its internal foes, i.e., the indigenous Christians, without being thereby disturbed by foreign intervention.”
It’s worth noting that little has changed; in the context of war in Iraq, Syria, and Libya, the first to be targeted for genocide have been Christians and other minorities.

But even the most cited factor of the Armenian Genocide, “ethnic identity conflict,” while legitimate, must be understood in light of the fact that, historically, religion accounted more for a person’s identity than language or heritage.   This is daily demonstrated throughout the Islamic world today, where Muslim governments and Muslim mobs persecute Christian minorities who share the same race, ethnicity, language, and culture; minorities who are indistinguishable from the majority—except, of course, for being non-Muslims, or “infidels.”

As one Armenian studies professor asks, “If it [the Armenian Genocide] was a feud between Turks and Armenians, what explains the genocide carried out by Turkey against the Christian Assyrians at the same time?”
Indeed, according to a 2017 book, Year of the Sword: The Assyrian Christian Genocide:
[The] policy of ethnic cleansing was stirred up by pan-Islamism and religious fanaticism.  Christians were considered infidels ( kafir).  The call to Jihad, decreed on 29 November 1914 and instigated and orchestrated for political ends, was part of the plan” to “combine and sweep over the lands of Christians and to exterminate them.”   As with the Armenians, eyewitness accounts tell of the sadistic eye-gouging of Assyrians and the gang rape of their children on church altars. According to key documents, all this was part of “an Ottoman plan to exterminate Turkey’s Christians.
To understand how the historic genocide of Armenians and Assyrians is representative of the modern-day plight of Christians under Islam, one need only read the following words written in 1918 by President Theodore Roosevelt; however, read “Armenian” as “Christian” and “Turkish” as  “Islamic,” as supplied in brackets:
the Armenian [Christian] massacre was the greatest crime of the war, and the failure to act against Turkey [the Islamic world] is to condone it… the failure to deal radically with the Turkish [Islamic] horror means that all talk of guaranteeing the future peace of the world is mischievous nonsense.
Indeed, if we “fail to deal radically” with the “horror” currently being visited upon millions of Christians around the Islamic world—which in some areas reached genocidal proportions—we “condone it” and had better cease talking “mischievous nonsense” of a utopian world of peace and tolerance.
Put differently, silence is always the ally of those who would liquidate the “other.”  In 1915, Adolf Hitler rationalized his genocidal plans, which he implemented some three decades later, when he rhetorically asked: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”
And who among today’s major politicians speaks—let alone does anything—about the ongoing annihilation of Christians by Muslims, most recently (but not singularly) seen in the Easter Sunday church bombings of Sri Lanka that left over 300 dead?
Note: See author's recent book, Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War between Islam and the West, for more on Turks and Armenians — including how the first "genocide" of Armenians at the hands of Turks actually began one-thousand years ago, in the year 1019.

turning on the spigot of federal dollars at the right time

The Great Depression of the 1930s was by far the greatest economic calamity in U.S. history. In 1931, the year before Franklin Roosevelt was elected president, unemployment in the United States had soared to an unprecedented 16.3 percent. In human terms that meant that over eight million Americans who wanted jobs could not find them. In 1939, after almost two full terms of Roosevelt and his New Deal, unemployment had not dropped, but had risen to 17.2 percent. Almost nine and one-half million Americans were unemployed.

On May 6, 1939, Henry Morgenthau, Roosevelt’s treasury secretary, confirmed the total failure of the New Deal to stop the Great Depression: “We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. . . . I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. . . . And an enormous debt to boot!” (For more information, see "What Caused the Great Depression?")

In FDR’s Folly, Jim Powell ably and clearly explains why New Deal spending failed to lift the American economy out of its morass. In a nutshell, Powell argues that the spending was doomed from the start to fail. Tax rates were hiked, which scooped capital out of investment and dumped it into dozens of hastily conceived government programs. Those programs quickly became politicized and produced unintended consequences, which plunged the American economy deeper into depression.

More specifically, Powell observes, the National Recovery Administration, which was Roosevelt’s centerpiece, fixed prices, stifled competition, and sometimes made American exports uncompetitive. Also, his banking reforms made many banks more vulnerable to failure by forbidding them to expand and diversify their portfolios. Social Security taxes and minimum-wage laws often triggered unemployment; in fact, they pushed many cash-strapped businesses into bankruptcy or near bankruptcy. The Agricultural Adjustment Act, which paid farmers not to produce, raised food prices and kicked thousands of tenant farmers off the land and into unemployment lines in the cities. In some of those cities, the unemployed received almost no federal aid, but in other cities — those with influential Democratic bosses — tax dollars flowed in like water.

Powell notes that the process of capturing tax dollars from some groups and doling them out to others quickly politicized federal aid. He quotes one analyst who discovered that “WPA employment reached peaks in the fall of election years. In states like Florida and Kentucky — where the New Deal’s big fight was in the primary elections — the rise of WPA employment was hurried along in order to synchronize with the primaries.” The Democratic Party’s ability to win elections became strongly connected with Roosevelt’s talent for turning on the spigot of federal dollars at the right time (before elections) and in the right places (key states and congressional districts).

I read a lot - so what? part 2

Reading is key to an expanded personal knowledge base - this is where you separate the thinkers and doers from the follower and  controlling trending groups!
It seems that the difference between the " Doers " 20% and the  " Tag a longs "non-interested is about an 80% ratio. Which seems to be true looking at how many in the general population live and fail!

Much of my reading is non-fiction and not science fiction. Therefore I seek the ball faced the truth, no some hanky pamky stories!
Please do not get me wrong, as I enjoy a good story like most people!  But I prefer following and seeking the real truth of the matter!

Therefore many people do not read or follow my posts. Over the years, I have learned many things which most do not want to know!

Examples:

The Air Quality and Freshwater supply is far more important than the price of Gasoline or Gun Control!  Yet most do not understand or even want to know about these important facts!  Sad though it is folks - you can only watch so many star wars or space fiction or sports events or participating in dangerous sports events. Most of which does not really help you! I am not down on any of those but just do not see putting large amounts of my personal time into them!

From where I have been - many things are more Razzle Dazzle and/or " Showboating " - meaning things irrelevance to our eternal exiastence!  Which is where you spend the rest of your existence! So it seems that you would want to get it right!

This is where I tend to spend time and effort!
Important things like , real love, helping others, beings and being a good example are very important to those whom you meet daily in life!

Who were you today?

A voice of dissent in the foundational physics community

     Part of the post:

I have some numbers for you on that too. Oh, yes, I love numbers. They’re so factual.
According to membership data from the American Physical Society and the German Physical Society, the total number of physicists has increased by a factor of roughly 100 between the years 1900 and 2000.* Most of these physicists do not work in the foundations of physics. But for what publication activity is concerned the various subfields of physics grow at roughly comparable rates. And (leaving aside some bumps and dents around the second world war) the increase in the number of publications, as well as in the number of authors, is roughly exponential.
It’s not institutional pressure that creates this resistance, it’s that scientists themselves don’t want to move their butts.
Now let us assume for the sake of simplicity that physicists today work as many hours per week as they did 100 years ago—the details don’t matter all that much given that the growth is exponential. Then we can ask: How much working time starting today corresponds to, say, 40 years working time starting 100 years ago. Have a guess!
Answer: About 14 months. Going by working hours only, physicists today should be able to do in 14 months what a century earlier took 40 years.
Of course you can object that progress doesn’t scale that easily, for despite all the talk about collective intelligence, research is still done by individuals. This means processing time can’t be decreased arbitrarily by simply hiring more people. Individuals still need time to exchange and comprehend each other’s insights. On the other hand, we have also greatly increased the speed and ease of information transfer, and we now use computers to aid human thought. In any case, if you want to argue that hiring more people will not aid progress, then why hire them?
So, no, I am not serious with this estimate, but it explains why the argument that the current stagnation is not unprecedented is ill-informed. We are today making more investments into the foundations of physics than ever before. And yet nothing is coming out of it. That’s a problem and it’s a problem we should talk about.
I’ve recently been told that the use of machine learning to analyze LHC data signals a rethinking in the community. But that isn’t so. To begin with, particle physicists have used machine learning tools to analyze data for at least three decades. They use it more now because it’s become easier, and because everyone does it, and because Nature News writes about it. And they would have done it either way, even if the LHC would have found new particles. So, no, machine learning in particle physics is not a sign of rethinking.
Another comment-not-a-question I constantly have to endure is that I supposedly only complain but don’t have any better advice for what physicists should do.
First, it’s a stupid criticism that tells you more about the person criticizing than the person being criticized. Consider I was criticizing not a group of physicists, but a group of architects. If I inform the public that those architects spent 40 years building houses that all fell to pieces, why is it my task to come up with a better way to build houses?
They constantly tell each other that what they are doing is good science. Why should they stop?
Second, it’s not true. I have spelled out many times, very clearly, what theoretical physicists should do differently. It’s just that they don’t like my answer. They should stop trying to solve problems that don’t exist. That a theory isn’t pretty is not a problem. Focus on mathematically well-defined problems, that’s what I am saying. And, for heaven’s sake, stop rewarding scientists for working on what is popular with their colleagues.
I don’t take this advice out of nowhere. If you look at the history of physics, it was working on the hard mathematical problems that led to breakthroughs. If you look at the sociology of science, bad incentives create substantial inefficiencies. If you look at the psychology of science, no one likes change.
Developing new methodologies is harder than inventing new particles in the dozens, which is why they don’t like to hear my conclusions. Any change will reduce the paper output, and they don’t want this. It’s not institutional pressure that creates this resistance, it’s that scientists themselves don’t want to move their butts.
How long can they go on with this, you ask? How long can they keep on spinning theory-tales?
I am afraid there is nothing that can stop them. They review each other’s papers. They review each other’s grant proposals. And they constantly tell each other that what they are doing is good science. Why should they stop? For them, all is going well. They hold conferences, they publish papers, they discuss their great new ideas. From the inside, it looks like business as usual, just that nothing comes out of it.
This is not a problem that will go away by itself.
Sabine Hossenfelder is a Research Fellow at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies where she works on physics beyond the standard model, phenomenological quantum gravity, and modifications of general relativity. If you want to know more about what is going wrong with the foundations of physics, read her book Lost in Math: How Beauty Leads Physics Astray.
*That’s faster than the overall population growth, meaning the fraction of physicists, indeed of scientists of general, has increased.

Note on Mark 5:36
Why didn’t Jesus just raise Jairus’ daughter from the dead? Then the problem would have been solved. Why did He tell Jairus to believe? Why did He say “only believe”? It’s because Jairus’ faith was an important part of this miracle; people can believe and disbelieve at the same time (see my note at Luke 8:50).
A small amount of faith is sufficient to accomplish any miracle if it’s not negated, canceled, or diluted by unbelief. Instead of just trying to build faith, we need to limit the amount of unbelief in our lives. See my notes at Matthew 17:20-21.
Jesus countered Jairus’ fear and told him to only believe.

Mark 5:37

Note on Mark 5:37
It was common when people were raised from the dead for the person who raised them from the dead to sperate themselves from unbelief. Elijah did this (1 Kings 17:19-22). Elisha did this (2 Kings 4:33). Peter did this (Acts 9:40). Jesus was hindered in performing mighty works in His hometown because of the people’s unbelief (Mark 6:5-6). If He had allowed the crowd or even some of the family friends into the room, they could have hindered this miracle. See my note at Luke 8:51.

Mark 5:38

Note on Mark 5:38
The Jews thought it was a sign of great love and respect to bewail the death of a loved one. For this reason, they actually hired professional mourners who would come to their house and cry over the death of the loved one.

Mark 5:39

Note on Mark 5:39
No doubt, this girl was dead as we know it, not just asleep. But from God’s perspective, death is similar to sleep. It’s not final. We will awaken someday. We could awaken from death at the final resurrection, or it could be in just a few moments, as in this case where Jesus awoke her early. But for those who operate in God’s faith, raising a person from the dead is as easy as awakening someone from sleep.

Mark 5:40

Note on Mark 5:40
Here were God’s own creations, ridiculing Him for His stance of faith. The Lord would have been righteous to destroy them all, just as Elisha did when he was mocked (2 Kings 2:23-24). But that’s not what He came to do. He came to save us, not judge us (Luke 9:55-56).
He put all this unbelief outside because it could have hindered the performance of this miracle. See my notes at Mark 6:5-6.

Mark 5:41

Note on Mark 5:41
There was no rebuking of the devil or death. He simply commanded her to arise and she did. What a display of power!

Note 1 at Mark 5:41: This was an Aramaic phrase that means “maiden, I say unto thee, arise” (Vine’s Expository Dictionary). Aramaic words were used elsewhere in Scripture (Matthew 27:46; Mark 7:34, and 15:34) although reasons for their use are not given. It becomes evident from a historical perspective, however, that Aramaic was the language most commonly spoken by Jesus and large numbers of Jews.
The Aramaic language uses the same alphabet as the Jewish language but differs somewhat in pronunciation and grammar. The Assyrian language, which was spoken in Babylon, was also closely related. When the Jews returned from the Babylonian captivity, Aramaic was the language adopted by them to use in everyday affairs and business. Hebrew Scriptures were also translated into Aramaic.
Just as in modern English literature when foreign words or expressions are inserted when the author feels an English word does not adequately express what he is trying to communicate, Matthew and Mark may have felt their Aramaic words more correctly rendered their meaning than any Greek word.

Mark 5:42

Note on Mark 5:42
This was a total miracle. For the girl to come back to life was miraculous. We know she was dead for some period of time, so to come back with no brain damage was even more miraculous. Then to be able to walk and eat was even more miraculous. Whatever the sickness was that killed her, she came back without it.

Mark 5:43

Note on Mark 5:43
If people’s unbelief could have prevented this miracle, then people’s unbelief could have stolen it away. I believe the Lord told Jairus and his wife not to tell people of this miracle so that they wouldn’t speak out their unbelief and cause their daughter to relapse.
This girl’s resurrection was totally miraculous, but notice that she now needed natural food. There is always a blending of the natural and supernatural in walking with the Lord. She was raised supernaturally but sustained naturally.
