Be prepared or not?


  Yes,  it has always been better to have something when you need it rather than need it and not have it with you!
Because it is better to have something and not need it ; than to not have something and need it!

The fact of the question here is the difference between conservative type people who strive to be prepared vs those "slack" people, who seem to wonder and float thorough life in a confused state of ignorant bliss...

As a former SPL in Boy Scouts; I take the motto " Be prepared " seriously, in all aspects of life!

 One of the problems in the society today is that many live as if there is no tomorrow - when they should be learning to do what is best...  This class of people tend to be the one who seem to run out of Gas on the road,never have a trash bag in their vehicle,  and no real spare tire or tools to change  if needed...  They are more likely to just throw trash out the window. of live in a trashy environment...
They're the ones who over use the emergency systems like 911, hospital facilities or the handicap parking, or stand around on street corners for a free handout,  etc....  

Why?

Mainly because they have no real boundaries in life...

Everything is a by guess or by golly happening!

 Many even have come to believe that the world owes them something!
The truth is neither the world nor anyone else owes you anything folks...  {Now ; there are certain special needs people who should require help!}
But the vast majority of this certain class of these slack people - have formed a new dependent group status... Not handicapped  - just plain lazy! 
In the past 50 years there has grown up a class of people who have been led to believe {by a certain political party} that the Government is suppose to support them...

They attempt to falsely justify this because of the  " general welfare " clause in both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution!  Yet the true meaning of general is the over all view; not the limited "specific welfare " as they purpose it to be....   Their view is a self serving view - not the general for everyone view of the original statement!

General Welfare
The “general welfare” clause is mentioned twice in the U.S. Constitution: first, in the preamble and second, it is found in Article 1, Section 8.
The preamble reads: “WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution refers to the “general welfare” thus: “The Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. . .”
The preamble clearly defines the two major functions of government: (1) ensuring justice, personal freedom, and a free society where individuals are protected from domestic lawbreakers and criminals, and; (2) protecting the people of the United States from foreign aggressors.
When the Founding Fathers said that “WE THE PEOPLE” established the Constitution to “promote the general Welfare,” they did not mean the federal government would have the power to aid education, build roads, and subsidize business. Likewise, Article 1, Section 8 did not give Congress the right to use tax money for whatever social and economic programs Congress might think would be good for the “general welfare.”
James Madison stated that the “general welfare” clause was not intended to give Congress an open hand  “to exercise every power which may be alleged to be necessary for the common defence or general welfare.” If by the “general welfare,” the Founding Fathers had meant any and all social, economic, or educational programs Congress wanted to create, there would have been no reason to list specific powers of Congress such as establishing courts and maintaining the armed forces. Those powers would simply have been included in one all-encompassing phrase, to “promote the general welfare.” 

John Quincy Adams, sixth President of the United States, once observed:
“Our Constitution professedly rests upon the good sense and attachment of the people. This basis, weak as it may appear, has not yet been found to fail.”

It is NOT the government’s business (constitutionally) to “help” individuals in financial difficulty.  Once they undertake to provide those kinds of services, they must do so with limited resources, meaning that some discriminating guidelines must be imposed.
(so many who need that kind of help- so little resources to provide it.)

The Founding Fathers said in the preamble that one reason for establishing the Constitution was to “promote the general welfare.” What they meant was that the Constitution and powers granted to the federal government were not to favour special interest groups or any particular classes of people.
That there were to be no privileged individuals or groups in society.
 Neither minorities nor the majority was to be favoured. 

 Rather, the Constitution would promote the “general welfare” by ensuring a free society where free, self-responsible individuals - rich and poor, bankers and shopkeepers, employers and employees, farmers and blacksmiths - would be able to enjoy “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” rights expressed in the Declaration of Independence.

So get over the false idea that they owe you something!
 {The Gov't is only an entity}

 General welfare is not specific welfare - rather the over all condition not a certain small group only application!

God gave each of us a free agency to choose how to live our lives with whatever consequences...   Not to be waiting on others... 
 Because it is not only difficult but it is impossible to provide for specific welfare of everyone...

The nation today exist in a false economy  - where only half of the actual working {tax paying} citizens pay any tax... 
  No system can exist for long in a deficit economy!
