How do you love your neighbor(s)? part 1

Who or what is a neighbor?

Definition of neighbor

1: one living close or located near another person

she had lunch with her next-door neighbor

2: any fellow human

You shall love your neighbor as yourself!
    - Matthew 19:19  (NKJV)

**  Matthew 19:19

    Note on Matthew 19:19

Of the three gospel writers who recorded this instance, Matthew was the only one to list
“Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” as one of the commandments Jesus gave to this rich young ruler.

Actually, this wasn’t listed in Exodus 20 as one of the Ten Commandments, as were the other commands Jesus referred him to.

This was a quotation from Leviticus 19:18.
In Matthew 22:39, Jesus used this command to summarize all the Law and the prophets.

**  Paul did the same thing in Romans 13:9b(NKJV)

    9 For the commandments,
 “You shall not commit adultery,”
 “You shall not murder,”
 “You shall not steal,”
“You shall not bear false witness,”[a]
“You shall not covet,”[b] and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely,
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[c]

    Footnotes:
        Romans 13:9 NU-Text omits
“You shall not bear false witness.”
        Romans 13:9 Exodus 20:13–15, 17;
 Deuteronomy 5:17–19, 21
        Romans 13:9 Leviticus 19:18

** Then in Galatians 5:14, (NKJV)

14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this:

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[a]

 Footnotes:
        Galatians 5:14 Leviticus 19:18

**  as did James in James 2:8- 26.(NKJV)

    8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,”[a] you do well;

9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,”[b] also said, “Do not murder.”[c] Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.

13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.

       ** Mercy triumphs over judgment.
